great remastered best of CD, dumb DVD, December 5, 2009

Thoughts of ionesco were a Michigan hardcore/metal band from the 90s. They made some original music that is worth a listen if you like hard edged stuff. Its sort of emo metal. (emo in the 90s sense, not fall out boy emo) This CD is kind of a greatest hits compilation with a few unreleased songs. The notes say that the songs are remixed, and it sounds like at least some are also remixed. The extra tracks are all solid and would have made a great EP. So, If you are a fan, you need to have this CD. Its also the best CD to get if you are just starting.
The DVD is a waste, in my opinion. Just a few snippets of live shows with mostly people outside the band being interviewed about how wild and crazy they were. They make it sound like these guys were GG Allin or something. The only band member interviewed is an on again off again drummer, who is interviewed while trying to act drunk. He even is drinking some major label light beer on tape! Doesn't he know that that stuff could get you tipsy?! Anyways, it gets embarrasing and repetative. I've seen these guys play many times, and I always got the impression that they were just suburban kids in a metal band. Who knew? Oh well, I'd have rather seen a tape of an entire show.
