This is Terfel at his best - warm and passionate. It is amazing to me that he can interpret folk songs, Broadway tunes, and opera so convincingly and so beautifully. These traditional folk songs are treated with respect and love - classic Terfel to treasure.

A really great record, except for the song "Danny Boy". I hate that song anyway, but Ronan Keating is terrible! He is not a trained singer, he is flat on the high notes, and his voice sticks out and clashes with Terfel's. I wonder why Terfel didn't get some operatic tenor to sing it with him. But when I play the CD from now on, I will skip that song, and otherwise it is very enjoyable. Waly Waly is one of my favorite songs and that is on there.

Each song is performed with utter conviction and consummate skill, and the arrangements - luxuriant and poignant - are impeccable.
