Ann Budd has edited and written a wonderful knitting book, Scarf Style 2. The book contains patterns by many well-known designers and some lesser-known ones. As she states in her introduction, this "is a book of scarves to knit and a book about knitting scarves." It contains 26 luscious patterns.

Some of my favorites are the Cottage Scarf, a classic cable design knit in worsted weight or two strands of fingering yarn held together designed by Jared Flood. This gives the knitter options. The Passing Through Shawl is knit in a light blue hue with worsted weight yarn and designed by Debbi Stone. It looks easy enough for the advanced beginner who knows some lace knitting. I love the Sea Spray Shawl in a deep purple. Designed by Angela Tong and knit with fingering weight yarn, it is lovely. It incorporates a four-row lace pattern making it accessible for the beginning knitter. Brioche Branches, designed by Nancy Marchant, is a two-color brioche pattern in a loden colorway. Each side has a different looking pattern. I think this is a project for the more advanced knitter. Star Palatine, a lacy shawl, takes my breath away by its beauty. It is designed by Galina Khmeleva and is knit diagonally and has star motifs in the center. It has a garter stitch foundation. The Tubular Fair Isle scarf is colorful and perfect for a cold winter day. Designed by Deborah Newton, it is knit with worsted weight alpaca so it should feel nice on anyone's neck. I love the Deep Shade Scarf designed by Jolene Treace. It is in a lovely green colorway and employs the Fibonacci numerical sequence. Nancy Bush's Ilme's Autumn Triangle is a golden cinnamon shawl knit with laceweight yarn. It incorporates Estonian knitting for which Ms. Bush is well-known.

I chose this rating because I immediately wanted to knit almost everything in the book. I buy almost every new book and am often disappointed, but not this time.

This is all I had hoped for: years ago, I bought the original scarf style, and used it to advance my knitting skills. It's still a go-to treasure. This new volume has more voluminous and extravagantly lovely scarves than the original; no more one-skein quickies, at least at first glance. Even so, I want to make them all. A real win.

This book is as delightful as the previous books she has written. Her skill as a knitter and her attention to detail make this a great addition to my knitting book collection.

A little more lace than I'd anticipated but it has some nice patterns. I'm sure I'll find something to make from it, I'm just not a great lace knitter...drop too many yarn overs!
