3.0 out of 5 stars Missing a lot October 29, 2003
Format:Audio CD
I love this movie and the music, so this album disappoints me in that it omits the majority of Moroder's fine score. There are mostly vocals, some of which are ok, but the meat of the music score is totally absent. The scenes where Tony meets his mother and Gina, the scene towards the end where Sosa's goons are raiding Tony's estate, the scene where we zoom into Sosa's estate in Colombia, the final confrontation between Tony and Gina and the list goes on. Talk to me when these cues are restored and given their just position on CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Little more of the score please November 16, 2003
A Kid's Review
Format:Audio CD
While the coked up sound to the dance tracks are important to the movie, too little emphasis is on Giorgio Moroder's score. Like the opening credit music, or when tony's place is being attacked, the interlude the first time tony goes to South America to see Sosa. Not to mention Gina & Elvira's theme could be expanded or seperated. Gina's theme when tony finally see's her again & Elvira's theme when she just learns that frank is dead and also when we first see her. Tony's theme is good but too short. How about a Score Soundtrack as a companion to this one, and forget the Def Jam crap...(what a disgrace,Mr. Scarface)
This is all they gave us, and it's too hard to get. Great music for a classic film. SCARFACE:The World Is Yours...

4.0 out of 5 stars Open up the limit... July 6, 2003
Format:Audio CD
This soundtrack has two-fold appeal and it's availability only as an import is still a mystery to me.
Scarface has only grown in popularity over the last 20 years into a real fan-favorite. The soundtrack was ripe for rediscovery after the 80s were far gone enough to evoke nostaligia. When Grand Theft Auto III appeared in 2001 for PS2 the songs were featured on the playlist of one of the radio stations within the game (Flash FM), giving that game the appropriate edge and point of reference.
Giorgio Moroder did the score and also produced some of the songs. It's definitely not his best score (I would put Midnight Express and Cat People before it) and the songs are forgettable in an 80s, glitz kind of way, but that's part of the appeal.
Take It To the Limit was a perfect song for GTAIII, period. She's On Fire, I'm Hot Tonight--they're cheesy but that's the whole fun.
If you're unfamiliar with Moroder you'll get the idea quickly. You'll recognize the sound that captured the late 70s and early 80s, the fat bass and the driving drum machine, the highly produced, slick sound that started with his disco records.
In the end, this disc really should be a lower-priced domestic release, not a pricey import. It's worth it for die-hard Scarface, GTA, and Moroder fans, but for the passing fan it's a short affair with a lower replay value.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world is yours as Tony Montana rocks. February 4, 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is truly the joyest moment of my life where I finally found CD version of beloved soundtrax. When I first saw the film by VHS format in May of 1987, I did not hesitate to purchase LP version of this album in Manhatten NY. Clearly,as far as it goes with film, the rythmes of Euro-Latino were quite moving experience at that era of the 80's. Giorgio Moroder, who happened to be a great soundtrax composer for 70's and 80's, mesmerized me with this exhilarating and very unique journey. To me, it was a great expansion of my spiritual experience with teenage years at a sunny day on the spring of 1987. If you love film, you gonna love this album. There is no way that you gonna seperate these two realms.
Enjoy!

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I bought this on (YES) L.P. when it first came out then casette,Different versions, mostly sounding the same from 4 countries at least,(Retired Vet) been there done that.but i also wish that there would be an insrtumental score to go along,
I TOtally AGREE;with the person who said ;forget DEF JAM;Puleaze;Thugster rap discussions and all about influence on gangsta's lives today is total B.S./this story and the music it represents was about the times in 82 through 85,But i was very upset with all the hype Gangstas got on the dvd ..Enuff on that..
this soundtrack is excellent, buy this and the remix version, then put it on your x-box and roll...(Prez.CrimestoppersInc.)

By Joe B.
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
After searching for 2 years, I've finally found the original soundtrack for the movie. None of the tracks are those remastered pieces of garbage. I love blasting my songs at full blast in the car . I can't believe I had to import the CD, but it was totally worth it!
