A Romantic Novel with an Excellent Readers Guide,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Scarlet Letter: With Reader's Guide (Paperback)
The Scarlet Letter is one of America's classics - it has everything from romance to adulury, from love to murder. The book starts out slowly, with Hester Prynne, the main character, coming out from prison after serving a sentence for adultury. After her jail term she is made by her Puritan community to wear the letter "A" on her chest. The novel progresses with Hester, her real husband Roger Chillingsworth, and her lover Master Dimmesdale.I liked the book when we studied it in class. The novel has much symbolism and offers a great insight into society. |
