Elizabeth received a certificate in Architectural Conservation at the International Centre for the Conservation and Preservation of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome, Italy in 1983. She was awarded a postgraduate certificate in Heritage and Tourism from the Centro Nacional de Conservación, Restauración y Museología in Havana, Cuba in 1997.
