Book Description

Zane’s horrific past is forever etched into his skin.

His anger and pain overcome his body and turns him into the beast he’s come to accept himself as.
But, is there a way to save himself from the beast he has become?

Especially when the anger makes him feel complete…

Serena can’t let go of the past, and, in the spectral embrace of her murdered lover, Devon, she has little reason to...

Until Zane arrives on her doorstep (and blows it into splinters).
However, she can’t deny the true desire she feels in Zane’s strong embrace.
Will she be able to resist Zane’s mysterious allure, despite her own budding passion?

Especially when the passion makes her feel complete…

As their personal pasts continue to haunt them,
the future for them and their clan grows evermore in
jeopardy of the malicious schemes of a familiar force.
Can an untamable beauty finally submit to her destiny,
and can a slaughterous beast be swayed of its catastrophic nature?

Or will the lover and the fighter be doomed to lose themselves amidst the chaos?

About the Author

Megan J. Parker lives in upstate New York in a small town that is no easier to spell than it is to pronounce. She lives with her adoring fiancé, Nathan Squiers, and her two devil kitties, Trent and Yuki (don’t let their innocent looks deceive you, they are devious little cats). Normally, she can be found with her face plastered to her MacBook Pro either designing a new book cover or writing/plotting her latest story. Currently, she is a full-time college student majoring in English Education and once she graduates, she plans to continue writing/designing as well as teaching English to K-12. On her down time, she likes reading and watching comedy or romantic movies. Her passion for telling stories is portrayed in all her work and when there’s a story to tell, you can be sure she’ll tell it to its full extent. She now is a co-owner for the up and coming publishing company, Tiger Dynasty Publishing, and is hoping to continue to expand this company to great lengths.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Get This September 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was gifted this book for an honest review.

At first I was having trouble getting connected with the story and for the life of me I don't really understand why because it was well written and it had the characters I like to read about. Not sure why but any who, this story had some new twists to the vampire stories I was used to so that was a definitely plus.

By the time I was truly hooked I wanted to know more about Zane and why he was cursed in the way he was and with what exactly he was cursed with. Serena at first seemed to me that this was the spoiled little rich girl who had something go wrong and blamed everyone else and I was prepared to hate her. I would have liked to have known more about her in the beginning as what I did know at that point gave me the wrong impression of her and it wouldn't be until the last third of the book that that would have changed.

I would have liked to have known more about these auras and what it meant by auric. I think this is why I had a hard time getting connected to the characters right away. But once I did get that connection I truly felt for the way Serena lost Devon at what was supposed to be her engagement party. Then there is Zoey who I really want to understand better.

Vampires and therions are natural enemies but sometimes those opposites attract which happens for Zoey. Then there is Nikki a Taroe which I am not even sure how to describe her other than magic.

So when I add all the pieces together I came to the conclusion that despite the troubles I had while reading this book that I really liked it. It sneaked up in under my radar to make me want to know more about this strange Vail clan. So I guess you can say that I am hooked now and want to know what happens in the next book.

So look past my frustration in getting connected and try it for yourself. You may find yourself liking it despite your initial expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulously Entertaining October 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
10+*s. I recieved an eARC copy of this book directly from the author in return for an honest review.
WOW…Megan J Parker has leftme speechless. This is a fabulously exciting and action packed story full of romance, paranormal, love, loss, revenge, killing, and humor, and I just couldn't put it down. When I did have to put it down, all I thought about was getting back to the story to find out what happened next. It's awesomely well written and I fell in love with the characters and their unique and quirky personalities and of course, I am a sucker for female heroines who speak their minds and run the show. I am totally addicted to Serena because she is that kick butt character. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. The comment about Xander Stryker was a perfect added addition. A MUST read 18+ ONLY book that leaves us one heck of a cliffhanger. Thank you, Megan, for the opportunity to read this remarkable story!!

This book was AWESOME! It was action packed and didn't have a dull moment--ever. Serena is one kick-ass girl! My favorite character (of course) was Zane. By the second page, I was in love with him. What a great (sexy, so very sexy) character! I love the dynamic he has with Serena. I can't wait for the sequel! <3

it took me less than two hours to read this book. it made me laugh to the point where i almost peed myself, made me cry (within the first 9 pages mind you) made me smile and irritated the daylights out of me all at once. the way this book is written, is one of the best i have yet seen. all in all, i have to say i would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good vampire/romance style book, jam packed from cover to cover with memorable characters, action, passion, and a just all around amazing story line

5.0 out of 5 stars Paranormal action October 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Megan J. Parker
Scarlet Night
Book 1 in the Scarlet Night Series

I fell in love with the main characters during the prequels "The Lover" and "The Fighter", so couldn't wait to read this, and thankfully I was far from disappointed.

The author has a great writing style, is very descriptive and the characters all develop further, and with more being introduced throughout the book, the reader is transported into an unforgettable paranormal world.

Scarlet Night is full of twists and turns, action, romance and fighting which will keep the reader gripped throughout. This book will take you on a roller coaster of a ride, and lead you to an ending that will leave you wanting more.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unique story, too much dirty language for me February 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Serena is dragged back into her old life when Zane “a cursed vampire” steps into the picture. A fight for the clan between Serena and Keith began to happen.

At first, I thought this book was really cool. Vampires, fights, a really unique style to a vampire story. I liked how the vampires had “auras” and could fight with them. That was really cool! And Serena had a dead lover that was stuck in her aura. A lot of the lore and style of this book was very well written and cool. I also thought the fact that Zane was cursed and could turn into a monster was really unique.

Several times I almost stopped reading this book because the language was outright horrible. I mean I’ve read books with the F word a bunch. But this just felt like an onslaught of dirty language. I started not liking any of the characters and actually skipped some of their dirty dialogue. Just…blach. Too much for me. Then the love story aspect of this story was very much the same for me. Just more lustful then an actual love story. I know a lot of people are into “instant” love stories, but for me I just find them unrealistic. I honestly thought there was a lot of cool aspects (mostly the auras and unique vampire tale) but the lustful relationships and language destroyed this book for me.

Misspelling in title?
Yes, it is a play on words because the main character's last name is "Vailean" and the clan she is in is called "The Clan of Vail".

Good catch though as you are the first one to make reference to it! :)
