With a "phone-sex-operator-meets-Layne-Staley" voice, epic guitars turned to 11, and the percussive attack of the rhythm section, these girls have established a worldwide following and are ready to change the rock universe. [...]

First of all let me say that I buy alot of CD's for the possibility of finding that great new/old band that might have slipped by. This one was found by a good friend of mine and it was the first time in awhile that I was like "Who is this?!". I am a big fan of melodic, epic and faster doom metal amongst other genres and this fits the bill rather well. The lead vocals are done by Sylvya NuVynska and she does have an inviting, sultry voice. I really like a good female lead in a metal band...Scarlet Sins for me fills that void that I always wanted Kittie to fill in the great female metal band category. No offense to Kittie fans but I think that get a little repetative after a couple listens. Scarlet Sins is not technically as "heavy" persay as Kittie but has that nice deep, dark heavy feel to their songs with a comforting melody. They for me give rise to thoughts of Katatonia "Great Cold Distance". The vocals are "clean" not metalcore or death metal vocals.

They have a long list of great tunes on this CD including the I can't believe that it has not been on the radio yet "Drown". You really owe it to yourself to take the time to listen to this great track.

Great double bass drums throughout by Elie Bertrand..actually the drumming is pretty outstanding throughout. I expect that once this band breaks through they are going to be big.

I am not much of a review writer but as no one had stepped up to the plate, I thought that Scarlet Sins deserved a little representation here on Amazon. Worth a look if you are looking into a good melodic metal band at what I would call a fast doom metal pace with good intrinsic melodies. The band's music is very approachable and is good for pushing through traffic to sitting back in a darkened room with some friends drinking a couple of cold beverages.

Best of luck to Scarlet Sins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scarlet Sins: Scarlet Sins, May 20, 2010

It is very sad, that this band has split up. (Sylvya, the vocalist, and the bassist, have formed When Forever Dies). This band is what I always wanted. Take Godsmack, lose the somewhat-repetitive feel, and jack up the power, the adrenaline, and the eerie darkness tenfold. Sylvya's voice is rich, reminding you of candle-lit romantic dinners on winter nights one moment, then of floating alone in a boat on a black, still lake at midnight. Every element of these four women's sound is amazing, from the seering guitars to exceptional drumming (I haven't heard a girl drummer use the bass drum before Drwon). I hope I got that name right. Each song is thought provoking. I can not believe there are so few bands, so far between, like this.
