5.0 out of 5 stars An early, excellent leigh greenwood
Pamela white's father left the ranch to go buy barbed wire and some hired guns to head off a range war that he was sure was coming. Our eastern Pamela was left in charge of the arizona dessert spread until he returned. And sitting on that powder keg was pretty unsettling even for this strong lady because she hated guns and violence. A dusty, disreputable stranger 'walks'...

3.0 out of 5 stars Blahh!
I like some of Leigh Greenwoods books, this to me was not the best. The beginnig was to slow to start for me. I honestley couldn't finish the book and I tried a few times to finish, I just finally gave up.

A dusty, disreputable stranger 'walks' in from the dessert in need of help. Pamela and Slade feel an immediate attraction but they are day and night. He clearly has a history with guns andis no man for a lady. He accepts the needed refuge and realizes that there is an undercurrent of danger going on and pamela is in the middle. Slade stays around to help her out.....The book is wonderful. It is clearly a question of can love survive when the personalities are alien to each other. Can a 'worthless' drifter be honorable and a man of integrity..Do we judge characters by appearance...Even early, greenwood defined his wonderful way with story lines and incredibly likeable characters........this is a keeper.........

4.0 out of 5 stars Slade and Pamela-SPOILERS, December 7, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Scarlet Sunset, Silver Nights (Mass Market Paperback)
Favorite scene with Pamela-

Learning about her father's death, getting drunk, then trying to find Slade, only to run into a cougar.

Favorite scene with Slade-

Shooting the coins.

Together-

Slade's conditions regarding the round up.

What did you like about Pamela-

She was strong and bossy. She loved reading Jane Austen. She believed in Slade when no one else did.

What didn't you like about Pamela-

She judged Slade. She wanted things only her way. She flip-flopped. She didn't think when she did or said things. She didn't want to believe what Slade said.

What did you like about Slade-

He was familiar with Jane Austen. He allowed Pamela into his heart.

What didn't you like about Slade-

While he allowed Pamela into his heart, he didn't want to talk about himself or his past.

Casting Slade, I'd cast Brad Pitt.

Casting Pamela, I'd cast Emily Robison.
