Another Virtually Unknown American Band,
By
This review is from: Scarred But Smarter (Audio CD)
Kevn Kinney creates a landmark 80's, American release. Beautifully crafted, furious tunes that grab you by the scruff of your neck and toss you right into the tumultuous, mid-80's pit of Americountry/Punk-n-roll. If you appreciate bands like The Replacements, X, or Camper Van Beethoven you have to obtain Scarred But Smarter without hesitation. Here's your chance to add an amazing release of yet another virtually unknown American band to your collection.

I love this band,

Kevin Kinney's voice is the reason I purchased the DnC CD's. The second reason is for the great musicianship and song writing. What more can you ask for?

80s Indie/College Rock,
By
This review is from: Scarred But Smarter (Audio CD)
Originally released on an Atlanta punk club's eponymous label--"688 Records"--drivin' n' cryin's debut record is a great example of college rock in the 1980s. While the aesthetic is similar to that of the Replacements, and the whole sounds as though recorded in someone's bathroom, Kinney's remarkably mature writing makes it essential listening for fans of the band or its leader nearly twenty years later. The top cuts include the title song, the punk thrash of "Keys to Me," the Garage/Folk/Psychedelia of "Another Scarlet Butterfly," and the blue-collar anthem, "Stand Up and Fight for It."
