5.0 out of 5 stars Scarsy
Good rythims, good vocals, fun lyrics....first saw this on a WoW pvp video and had to have it.(Video PAT-PVP2)

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars potential...but nothing too potent.
i bought this cd at wherehouse today ... yeah, i had heard of them, that they were good, so i picked it up.

the riffs are good, but they are repeated. the lyrics could be much better. the singer is okay. some of the songs run together. they are not in any way original, but they know what they're doing. and if they can come up with something good, they will kick...

From the second you pop this cd in to the very last dark track you will be bangin your head and screaming for more, this is truly one of the best cd's i own and will always love it although Ryan is now the lead man for drowning pool!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their best., April 14, 2006
This review is from: Scars (Audio CD)
This is one of the few albums that I can listen to from track 1 through the final track and enjoy every single song. The album had 'radio friendly rock' written all over it, but it never got much attention besides the one single "Halo." Unfortunately Ryan (lead vocals) left the band and has since joined Drowning Pool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soil is amazing, March 27, 2003
This review is from: Scars (Audio CD)
Ive see this band live when they played with Ozzy and I was so impessed I bought there album. "Halo" is easily one of the best tongue in cheek anthems but it doesnt just stop there. There isnt one filler song on this album. Each song after the next just rock brutally. The standout songs to me are "need to feel","wide open", and my personal fav "black 7". Soil and Audiovent are easily the 2 best metal bands in this otherwise talent-less scene. Buy this album you wont be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old style rock in a new style band., August 30, 2002

In today's rock world, it seems every new band is either nu-metal or angst-ridden grungish metal, but Soil are bucking that trend and creating a refreshing brew of heavy riffs and infectious lyrics. "Halo" is a song that you'll swear you've heard before, but despite its catchiness retains a garage-metal feel to it. Their tracks flow well from one to another, but alone sound like they could be from several bands. This will be their calling on future albums, it seems, and I can't wait until they're able to harness all of their amazing talents...I've already been blown away with this release. Rock/metal fan? Pick this one up right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, June 26, 2002
This review is from: Scars (Audio CD)
I used to be in to rap, but my friends changed me to a hardcore metal fan. Soil is probly my favorite band in my cd case. I have all 3 cd's. Soil's beats are the frickin' best, i love the gutair. The only band I can think would match their greatness would be FLAW! SOIL IS THE ... BEST!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Miles above the competition, March 11, 2002
This review is from: Scars (Audio CD)
O.K Lets be honest, ever since this whole Nu-metal thing popped up record labels has been signing one band after the other, all doing pretty much the same thing! But here is something truly "NU". Soil is a blend between hard nu-metal, some goth and some 80's in my opinion. It's heavy and melodic. But one thing, they are themselves. I heard no band like this and probably never will again. "Halo", "Need to feel" and "The one" just blew me away. I know talent when I hear it and this band shows plenty. It's probably not for everybody(no band ever is) but if u feel the about music I do, run to the record store.

4.0 out of 5 stars great sound!, November 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scars (Audio CD)
i must confess, when i bought this record, i was expecting some boring wannabe nu-metal band who doesn't have any unique sound. as i have learned from past experience, i'm wrong about a lot of things, and this is one to add to the list. this band has the best sound i've heard in a very long time. it's not nu-metal (thank god) and it's actually MELODIC, which is something that i look for in modern hard rock bands, not just mindless screaming which, believe me, gets VERY old VERY fast. all in all, good job guys, you proved me wrong, keep up the good work, i'm hungry so i'm gonna say C YA
