This book was among the required texts for my Psychology class and I must say that even though it was a bit hard to digest emotionally, it is definitely something I would recommend to anyone who cares about kids or in the social service field. It's a biography that speaks about the plights and determination of an orphan child growing up in our foster care system. It will tug at your heart strings, give you an insight from a child's perspective and serves as a very useful tool to helping care providers better care for youths in our foster care system.

Format: Paperback
A must read for anyone who works with foster children! Mr Louis' account of the horrors he endured in the foster care system are related in a compelling but sensitive narrative. Though your heart will break at the abuse and loss heaped upon this defenseless child, you will better understand the children in foster care, and hopefully be better able to relate to and help heal them. Mr Louis' account of his epiphany and triumph over his upbringing will lift your soul.

Format: Paperback
The author allows you inside his world of despair as he survives 15+ years in foster care. As a foster/adoptive mother I could feel this child's pain every step of his journey. This is a great book for allowing us to view the foster care system and see it's flaws. This young man had many obstacles to overcome but has done it!
