This review is from: Scarves: A Knitter's Dozen (A Knitter's Dozen series) (Paperback)
What a cool book! Scarves are hot fashion items, especially hand knitted ones, and this book contains modern, trendy patterns not found in other collections. Right now I'm working on the zig-zag triangles design, a new short rows technique I haven't tried before. There are variations on plain old garter stitch, on the basic elongated rectangle shape that adds a new directionality, on hairpin lace ( worked with knitting needles), and many other new twists. Each of the 24 patterns has clear instructions for using light, medium, and heavy weight yarns, and the possibilities are endless. Helpful diagrams accompany anything that is not straightforward, and if you can knit, purl, increase, and decrease, you can probably tackle any of these great designs. Making a small item like a scarf is a quick, inexpensive way of sampling new yarns and techniques.
Definitely 5 stars !

I am selling scarves so I am always in search of pattern ideas. With most books I find that either the patterns are too basic (or just plain ugly) or they are too advanced for my level. This book has a good balance of neat, unique patterns that are easily made by a beginner to moderate knitter.

Good Book,

This book has a variety of scarves to try, most are quite easy. There are different stitch patterns, scarves that are curvy or zig zagy, skinny scarves, chunky scarves, and lots of other great looking scarves in between. Several scarves are presented with instructions for a variation of the same pattern, which helped me to design my own scarves with yarn I already had. Great photos, clear instructions, one of the better scarf knitting books.

THIS BOOK HAS A LOT OF UNUSUAL SCARVES. NOT ALWAYS THE "SAME AS ALL THE REST" KIND OF BOOK. ADD A FEW ASSORTED BEADS HERE AND THERE AND YOU WILL DRESS THEM UP EVEN MORE. HAVING FUN WITH THIS AND IN-BETWEEN OTHER PROJECTS, THIS IS A QUICK AND FUN FIX!

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to scarves and unfortunately this book is not my taste. I was extremely disappointed in the scarf patterns in this book as I didn't like any of them. They were too "out there" for me. I will donate the book to the library or the thrift store.

There's more to scarves than plain long rectangles! the scarves in this book are anyting but ordinary, and they are challenging enough to keep you interested but simple enought for begginers to acomplish one of this unusual scarves.
Try one! try them all!!!! they are super simple, super cute!!!! I have already started on my Xmas Gifts, and they will be anythingh BUT blah!
