Monstrously murky sea creatures, bird-eating spiders, killer frogs, slithering snakes. These are just a few of the creepy critters that are bound to mesmerize child and adult viewers. While trying to debunk the very notion of scary animals--they're only spooky because you don't know enough about them, the comforting narrator assures--the accompanying footage won't do much to calm your fears. But the kids will dig it, from learning about basking sharks--those "finely honed killing machines" that usually only attack humans when provoked--to viewing a swarm of army ants or vampire bats. One of the better videos in the Amazing Animals series, this one is for all ages, except the very little ones, who might experience true fear at some of the segments that feature animated host Henry the lizard in eye-popping situations meant to poke fun at fear. --Valerie J. Henry, the gecko, is cute as he explores the animals. It is a fun way to teach children; they want to hear and watch it over and over as they get used to the scary creatures. Well-done as are all the videos in this series. My grandkids love them over a period of many years.
