5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping story that needed telling, May 19, 2007
I am a retired physician. Alan Geller's story manages to grip the reader as he details his nightmare journey through the very early events of his sudden loss of vision from undiagnosed multiple sclerosis. We root for him as he tries to combat the all-too common unresponsiveness of the modern medical profession's fragmentation into specialty care. And finally we are led to see that the battle's outcome depends on the patient's own good judgement in selecting from the choices offered. Geller walks us through the many alternative treatments that he considers, until he triumphs by discovering that an inexpensive, off-patent, generic medication, low dose naltrexone, holds the key to stemming the progress of his illness. This book should be required reading for anyone with an autoimmune disease or cancer.

Although i was not personally living thru a scary diagnosis a close family member is when this book fell into my life, it has thus far played a vital role in allowing him to make information based decisions and play an active role in his recovery. Reading this book was like having a good conversation with a caring friend - a must read.

I wish I had the book when I faced my own scary diagnosis. Should it happen again I would go straight to Geller's book for guidance.

"Scary Diagnosis" is the ultimate in self-help
