Biography

“I’ve been deep into electronic music my entire life. The first records I ever owned were ‘Fat of Land’ by the Prodigy and ‘Come To Daddy’ by Aphex Twin,” raves Sonny Moore, better known as emerging electronic visionary SKRILLEX. “Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails were also early influences. I’ve been dabbling in making electronic tracks ... Read more in Amazon's Skrillex Store

If you haven't heard Skrillex before and you're wondering what it's like, just imagine the music that the Transformers would break-dance to.

Good job, now download the album.

You're welcome.

Honestly, I've had every song on this album for months before this was released, and rebought the album to support Skrillex. Equinox is amazing, ruffneck bass is pretty good, and the scary monsters remixes are alright. I really like the two DnB scary monsters remixes... and being a DJ they sound sick slowed back down to 145 BPM :)

By the way, the sound quality on amazon is amazing, and everything costs less than it does on iTunes... and you get to store everything on the cloud... I'm a convert. Bye-bye iTunes, hello AmazonMP3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense as your choice expletive December 26, 2010
Format:MP3 Music
So I bought this album on iTunes (don't do it unless you got a gift card like I did, it's $7.99 there). Lemme just say, this album hits hard and sounds freaking amazing. Its not like other electronica, it's dirty and hard. The best songs are definitely "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" or "Rock 'n' Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain)." I'd say it was worth the $7.99 I paid for it so pick this up at $5.99 and crank up the volume.

EDIT: I've been listening to this a fair amount lately and I'd like to add that several of the other songs are good. I have taken a liking to "Scatta" as of late. Theres a mix of all sorts of music. "Scatta" is a rap song thrown in with the dubstep and electronica music. Some of it seems more rock but its all awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary Beats and Nice Synths May 6, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased this EP after stumbling upon the title track and was equally impressed by the entire thing altogether -- Skrillex (Sonny Moore) clearly has has a knack for extremely well polished production and instantly catchy, almost pop-like melodies. His tracks roar with a huge over-the-top sound which typically consists of bobbing dubstep beats, sharp buzzsaw synths, and vocals from all different sources, ranging from obscure samples to guest vocalists to Sonny's own voice. At the same time, its never overwhelming. Even the three remixes are well worth their place on the EP. They aren't there simply to fill disc space either; Quite the contrary! They're actually as good as the originals. The Zedd Remix of "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" has to be my personal favorite, which turns said track into nervous fidget house music. Its epicness that matches the original in its own way. In short, this is modern electronic dance music at its finest. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars SSSSSSKKKKRRRRRIIILLLLEEEEEEXXXXX December 26, 2010

Skrillex's production quality is unmatched. Listen to this album in the highest quality you can find (~320 kbps) and with the best headphones/speakers you can find (for me it's the Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10), and his production will really stand out. Skrillex is incredibly talented and utilizes a highly unique sound. Part of his talent is his ability to draw from all forms of music- Electro, Dubstep, Rap (see: Scatta), Pop (see: Lady Gaga remixes), and his metal (see: The Sadness will never end) background to form an amazing and intense sound. Skrillex does not judge what is good music or not- he sees music as neutrally as possible, mixes and melds all these styles on the platform that is electro. In order to produce the trebles, mids, and bass as cleanly as he does, there is no substitute but a lot of time and effort. Get the best quality Skrillex you can find, combine that with good speakers/headphones, and you will have one heck of a time

I just recently discovered a genre for what I had been calling robot music. Skrillex is king of dubstep. He has created an album that was way past my expectations, not always to my liking, but always a signature of a particularly interesting human.

Skrillex should not be called a dubstep artist. He should have his own genre or something. It is not for me, I prefer the true dubstep music that is more than constant drops and... Read more
