We are going to Tennessee and North Carolina in July for vacation. I saw a link for this book while researching hikes in the Smokies. I thought it would be something fun to do with the kids. I've scanned through it and can't wait to actually use it, I know the boys will love it!! It has several different hikes to go on and you collect points for the things you find.

This book was a lot of fun to have with us on the trails. It helped us to stop and take notice of things that we might have otherwise missed. It also helped to prevent a lot of whining about being on the trails. Although my 14 yr old was a little bored with it, my 5 & 7 yr olds enjoyed it. I look forward to more Scavenger Hunt books.

We have already done one of these hunts and we had a blast. It made the hike more fun for those in the group that don't really enjoy hiking. Those of us who love to hike enjoyed it all the more.

There is no place on earth that brings me more happiness than the Great Smoky Mountains! I have a little place in Sevier County, about 10 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and when I am not there, I am trying to figure out when I can go back. I have been a lot of places in my llife, but I have never found anywhere that is as beautiful as the Smoky Mountains. Last week, me and my Mom had a wonderful time hiking some of the trails. Over the years, I have hiked almost every trail, but this time I found a book that added a lot of excitement to some of the trails that I have hiked several times. This book helped me to see things that I have over looked in the past and I learned some new things. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the Smoky Mountains. I think kids would love this. I know when I was a kid, I loved a good scavenger hunt. The hikes range from very easy to extreme, with most of them in the easy to moderate range.

This book is great for family hikes. It takes the hiker on trails from very easy to difficult: The Mt. LeConte hike takes ALL day (we know from experience). This book makes it fun for the whole family by pointing out info and places that you normally would pass by. Little tidbits of information helps keep it fun. For example, I didn't know that one plant is nicknamed "DogCatcher". This book is fun and easy to follow. I recommend it for the whole family during their hikes on these trails.
