5.0 out of 5 stars Definetly worth reading
I think I have read all of Pike's books that are still in print and he is my favorite author. I love to read horror and mysteries and that's what he writes. Not to mention he has amazing details. Scavenger Hunt was one of my favoirtes.

The book opens in a church where a frantic boy tells the story of his day to a fairly disbeliving preist.

Carl, Cessy, Tom, Tracie,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Book
I can't believe it... I've found a Christopher Pike I can't stand. This book is really crappy and far fetched. A race of reptilian aliens? Give me a break. I don't like the Christopher Pike books that envolve the supernatural and science fictiion, I like the stories such as Chain Letter and Weekend. Scavenger Hunt is definitely Pike's worst, and I'm his # 1 fan...

The book opens in a church where a frantic boy tells the story of his day to a fairly disbeliving preist.

Carl, Cessy, Tom, Tracie, Rick, Paula and Davey are just a few seniors whose class is having a scavenger hunt. Carl just lost his best friend Joe and Tom is his only other really good friend since.

The scavenger hunt has weird rules and weird clues. But no one seems to think it as anything odd. They are all just happy to be having fun and not be in school.

Soon things get even weirder. Carl notcies that apart from his group Tracies group is the only other one they've seen since about the second clue.

Before they can stop it they are thrown into a deadly game. A Scavenger Hunt where they are the scavengers prey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good read!!, July 11, 2002
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Mass Market Paperback)
As a person who is 30-something years old I was looking for a change of pace from the "mature adult" sci-fi and fantasy books I normally read.
I found this little treasure in the young adult section of one of my used books stores and am sold that Christopher Pike is definitely worth a few more tries.

Great book! On section was truely suspensful and very little could be guessed as I read through the book. This left the end as a nice suprise. A great sense of building tension and mystery in what appears to be a totally innocent event but turns into something so much more.

SPOILER...Pike doesn't ever really tell you about the "bad guys" and what their origins are yet the story seemed totally believable in the midst of so many questions that needed answering. Great job Pike!

5.0 out of 5 stars Christopher Pike - a young reader's favorite, June 26, 2007
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Mass Market Paperback)
I discovered Mr. Pike's books when I was about 12 or 13 years old back in the late 80s and was immediately hooked. I am 30 now, and remember how much I enjoyed his stories and how they were at just the right reading level for a young teen looking for a suspenseful, sometimes gory, and challenging storyline. I didn't care about stupid New Kids on the Block, I wanted to know how Pike's Final Friends trilogy was going to end. Who did it?! My friends and I had our own theories and analyzed the facts together. Mr. Pike is writing for the future fans of such writers as Patricia Cornwell and David Baldacci and I highly recommend him for any young, maturing reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horror Hunt, March 5, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a thrilling ride on a roller coaster (literally). It captures your imagination into a whirlwind of crazy happenings that are not explained until the last moment. For Carl Timmons this is the ultimate nightmare. For Paula Morrow and Tracie White this is 'Hell'. For Rick Morrow this is death. For Cessy Stepford and Davey Stepford this is a lot of FUN!!! They have diabolical, big, black-blue eyes, super-human strengths and obviously evil minds!!! This book is amazing and at the same time horrifying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christopher Pike is an unbelievable, brilliant author.

This novel was a good, enjoyable, and scary book to read. The book
starts off kind of confusing untill you get to the first chapter.
The main character in this book is Carl Timmons,a senior in
a small town in californa. The book goes on to tells about the dreams he has about his friend that is dead. The trobeled senior has no idea what taking him and his commpany on this hunt will do.If you want to find out try reading the book. I enjoyed this book ,and look forward to reading more of Chistopher Pike's novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creepy!, November 16, 1999

This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Mass Market Paperback)
This book certainly is one of Pike's scariest, although it is by no means the one that makes the most sense. I found it a tiny bit farfetched, but who cares, as long as there's blood spilled, right? Besides, I have an open mind. The chapter about Tracie breaking into Mr. Patridge's house really got me trembling. Pike has a way of putting words together that plunges the reader into his book. No, more like pulls the characters into real life and scare the reader out of his skin. A great book.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt (Mass Market Paperback)
Christopher Pike has once again got readers going on a wild adventure. A troubled high school senior Carl Timmons, lives in a small California town. Carl has lost his best friend, in an accidental death. The school year is almost over and a scavenger hunt is organised by secretive club and a great prize is offered to the first group who finishes. The hunt takes freakish turns and ends in a horrendous way. Carl soon realizes that he is caught in a death trap and his group members are not human. Christopher pike moves the mood and plot constantly. "Scavenger Hunt" is very suspenseful, creepy, gory, gruesome, bizarre, and deathly type, full of adventure and unexpected events. I recommend this book to anyone that likes horror books and enjoy an easy read. This story is adventurous, breathtaking and will completely make your skin crawl.

A Review by Nick

Carl Timmons' Senior Class was to be led on a Scavenger Hunt that led through the city, then deep into the desert. After two of the groups realize they are not seeing anyone else on the hunt, they quickly realize the scavenger hunt is fake, and they were being set up. They soon find themselves righting for there lives, against people that aren't even alive. Will they survive?...Or are they already dead?

I like how this book is pretty action packed. The story quickly picks up from the beginning, and is steadily paced until the shocking end. The Author is very detailed in describing the characters settings and situations. I can relate to a lot of the feelings that were expressed during this book. I liked how "Scavenger Hunt" can be put in a number of categories. It includes: Horror, mystery, Suspense, Romance, action, and a tad of comedy here and there. I like how you never know what's going to happen next. I would have liked if the story didn't end so abruptly, and said what happened after the end.

I would definitely recommend "Scavenger Hunt" to anyone that enjoys horror mysteries that lead you in suspense, while having plenty of action and a unique love story tied into it. This is a Great book. READ IT.
