Why no rerelease of this sweet family movie?, June 18, 2006
This review is from: Scavenger Hunt [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The synopsis of the movie: An eccentric toy company magnate (voice of Vincent Price)dies and wills his estate to the winner(s) of a strange Scavenger Hunt. The family members and servants form teams to obtain odd things like an ostrich, an authentic suit of armor and the "worlds fattest man" each of which is worth a number of points. The movie is very amusing and great for children and adults.
I find it perplexing that they (whoever "they" is!) will not release this classic on DVD. Most of the humor is not side-splitting, but not vulgar either. In fact, most if it's downright corny, but it's a good movie when youre in the mood for something not complicated. Judging from all the commmentary on this page, it seems to have a huge "cult" fan base! I keep thinking that "they" could make a boatload of money if they did rerelease it.
I also wish they would release this on DVD so I could share it with my kids. Furthermore, I find it perplexing that no one has released it yet since some of the biggest names in the 70's show up in this movie. Among these are: Richard Benjamin, Dirk Benedict, Cloris Leachman, Tony Randall - to name a few.
I have looked for the rerelease of this movie for about 8 years on Amazon. I'm starting to think there's a conspiracy. Maybe one of those "korean copies" will do... nyah

One of my all-time favorites !, November 8, 1999

The first time I saw this movie I ended up laughing so hard mystomach hurt. The part where the chauffeur, the butler and the cooktry to steal a cash register from a convenience store (as one of the items needed for their scavenger hunt) and James Coco puts a pair of panty hose over his face with the legs hanging down in front(so he wouldn't be recognizable) was absolutely hysterical. Georgie (Richard Masur) is another winner as the spoiled and malicious son of Cloris Leachman. This entire movie was fun from beginning to end and it's loaded with great movie stars. This movie reminded me a little of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, World" (my absolute favorite movie of all time ) Do yourself a favor and buy this movie. It will have you laughing until you cry !

Scavenger Hunt is one of the best films of the 70's. I laughed really hard at parts like when Duane (stuart Pankin)eats Cheeseburgers , frys , apple turnovers, a pizza , and a dozen donuts and he turns around to Dirk Benedict and Willie Aames and says ''Guys my stomach is starting to Growl!''.the part where Scum (Meatloaf)and his biker freinds beat up Stuart (Richard Benjamin) for touching there bikes then they run over him. There are so many other hilarious parts in the film too. This Film also has an allstar cast with James Coco , Richard mulligan , Richard Benjamin, Cleavon Little,& Scatman Crothers in the lead roles with Special appearances from Meatloaf whose ''Bat Out of hell'' album was 3x platinium , Avery Schreiber A great comedian,Vincent Price , and Arnold Schwarzenegger Whom got lots of sucess with Terminator and other action films.A great show about how far people will go for money , in this case a wealthy game creator dies and his will is left in form of a scavenger Hunt .
