4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Fulfilling for a Short Book
As a lesbian and an aspiring writer, I am extremely picky about the books I read. At first I was weary about a series titled "Lesbian Adventure Club," because I didn't want to spend my money on pillow fights and shower scenes. But I was delighted to find characters that read completely human. They're all flawed and beautiful in their own way. Not a one of them is too...

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Fulfilling for a Short Book, March 12, 2010

This review is from: Scavengers (Lesbian Adventure Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
As a lesbian and an aspiring writer, I am extremely picky about the books I read. At first I was weary about a series titled "Lesbian Adventure Club," because I didn't want to spend my money on pillow fights and shower scenes. But I was delighted to find characters that read completely human. They're all flawed and beautiful in their own way. Not a one of them is too masculine or feminine. I had so much fun reading this book. I actually found myself laughing until my sides hurt at some parts. I was moved by Kate's honesty and determination. I was on the brink of tears by Claudia's frustration and conflicted feelings. And I wanted to sit for hours and listen to the wisdom Kris and Ginny have to offer. After I read it, I ordered the next three books in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever and Entertaining Series, February 14, 2010
I found the Lesbian Adventure Club series (1-10, hopefully there'll be more) to be clever and entertaining.

The stories are mainly driven by the characters and the struggles and triumphs of their relationships. The narrator, Kate, will quickly become a close friend as she is kind, bitingly sarcastic, and riddled with the same insecurities most women have. Her relationship with Claudia is profound enough to bring you to tears at some moments and have you laughing out loud at the next. Each character in the series is unique, relatable, and genuine. I wish I had a group of friends that was this tight knit and fun.

The adventures vary from month to month, but no matter what event they are partaking in (scavenger hunt, murder mystery, or paintball massacre), the girls always make it exciting because you never know what kind of trouble they are going to cause. Often times, the hilarity is balanced with a little drama, whether it be relationship troubles or the social stigma of being gay.

The adventures here are not Indiana Jones/ Mission Impossible caliber or hyper-sexual as some books can be, they are very much real-life adventures which is half the draw. The characters and situations are so true to real life that they are easy to get lost in and escape your own reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lesbien Adventure Club Series is a must read, December 11, 2011
This review is from: Scavengers (Lesbian Adventure Club, Book 1) (Paperback)
Starting with Scavengers, the Lesbien Adventure Club series is a must read as are Rosalyn Wraights, Laura McCallester mysteries. These books are well written, they are entertaining, there are parts that are just hillarous.
These LAC books are written in the first person view from Kate Sutter a newspaper reporter. They are a must read for everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, September 6, 2011

I really enjoyed reading this which is the first book of the series. The characters tend to be a little corny at times but they remind us of the way we wish we could be all the time. Even though this is a mystery series, I found romance and comedy hidden in there too. I am totally happy with my purchase and I could see myself reading this again after finishing the series. My only peeve would be that there are a few typos. At times it was getting alittle anoying. After getting past that, I really enjoyed this book. On to the next.

Is it a mystery? Is it a romance? Is it an adventure? I don't know, but I like it. It's entertaining and hilarious.

Scavengers by Rosalyn Wraight

Scavengers is told from the pov of Kate who is partnered with Claudia. There are four more couples who all make up the Lesbian Adventure Club. The theme of the adventure club rotates monthly between couples. Each couple is responsible for concocting and executing their own idea. In this book one couple gives 8 clues to help the other 4 couples complete a scavenger hunt.

Since the 'book' is only 90 pages it can't and doesn't delve too deeply into each of the 10 women but basically gives an overview of how they all know each other. I just thought it was outline like and could have benefited from adding another 90 pages to fill out the characters.

Basically 8 couples go on a scavenger hunt. So?? Not one that I'll keep nor read again.

**Remember - if you want your favorite authors to keep writing for us they have to be able to earn a living doing it. If at all possible try to buy the book NEW. I know it sucks but if you're not going to keep it in your collection put it in the recycle bin to make another book.**
