4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun
Chixdiggit are *funny*, but they're not as blatantly stupid and obnoxious as, say, Blink-182 (with every single verse being some homophobic remark or a fart joke). They sound like an amped-up version of good, old Cheap Trick or a way better Green Day; call it pop-punk, power pop, whatever you like. Fact is the 'diggits' supremely catchy, infectious melodies will...

I guess all I can say is that Chixdiggit! [don't forget the exclamation point, kids] is a pop-punk band. No, no, they're a POPPY pop-punk band. In fact, they're probably the poppiest pop-punk band that has popped up in recent years, and they're from Canada, to boot! They plow through 11 songs on their newest CD with only two topping three minutes and five songs under two...

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't let 'fenixmxpx" steer you wrong., November 17, 2000

Chixdiggit is an excellent band. They have an original approach to pop-punk, and AJ's vocals are refreshingly well-delivered. Fenixmxpx is trying to steer you away, but he listens to fenix tx and mxpx, two amazingly generic pop bands, with two horribly annoying singers. Don't let him fool you; Chixdiggit rocks.

I think the All Music Guide said it best about these guys:

"Although they probably won't ever get any true recognition for it, Chixdiggit really does write some great songs. One listen to From Scene to Shining Scene immediately reveals what's missing from most latter-day punk rock: killer melodies."

I love Chixdiggit! for one very important reason: They. Are. Catchy. Lots of Descendents/Ramones style hooks, great energy and an overall sense of fun all elevate this band from the rest of the pack. You listen to any of their albums once and you will have lines running through your head within minutes. Melodies that sticky are a gift, a gift that too many bands just don't have.

I have all their albums, and this ones just as good as all the others. One thing that does make it different from the rest is that all the songs on here are full sized songs. You won't find any 30 second long tracks on this one.

It may not convert the pop-punk haters, but if you're cool with the sound, you'll be hard pressed to find a band doing it any better.

Yet another classic from the fellas up North... For everyone who has scene these gents live, this album will tide you over until the next show. For those of you that haven't, I'm sorry, you really should get out more often... Overall, I think this album is on par with the others. Could be longer, but hey, that's punk....

They plow through 11 songs on their newest CD with only two topping three minutes and five songs under two. Their music is pretty straightforward with no discernable surprises, and the singer's vocals are a nice touch to this band. He really helps separate them from the pack with his more high-pitched, half-whiny [in a good way] vocals. It's also on Honest Don's, so you know it's produced really really well. And for all you technologically advanced people, you can pop this into your CD-ROM and get all sorts of multimedia goodies. If you're a fan of Chixdiggit!, I don't need to tell you to pick this up. If you're not, but you enjoy really really good pop-punk, then there isn't much of a better place to start than at this album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average, Nothing Special, October 10, 2000
This review is from: From Scene to Shining Scene (Audio CD)
Yet another release from Canada's Chixdiggit, this one cleverly titled From Scene To Shining Scene. Those that have heard Chixdiggit before know what to expect with this cd, but those that have never heard these pop-punkers may hesitate on this one. The best way to describe Chixdiggit is a band with a generic pop-punk sound and vocals that just don't work. The vocals on this record start to get annoying, especially at the end of track 2, "Spanish Fever." At times vocalist KJ Jansen is able to throw his strange voice in such a way that sounds pretty cool but other times his high-pitched rugged singing makes you turn the volume on your stereo down. From Scene To Shining Scene is filled with pop-punk ballads, some with catchy hooks and some without. Some of the more appealing clips of this record are found in the choruses of "My Dad Vs. P.M.", "Melissa Louise", and the end of "Going To The Peelers." One of the more interesting parts of this cd is when you pop it into your computer. It has a Macromedia Flash enhanced cd from cd-rom drives with biographies, music, and interesting video tracks. You learn a lot about the band in it and I wish more bands did those. Back to the music... this cd contains a lot of palm-muted verses on guitar and smooth fifth chord changes like your average pop-punk album. The guitar intro to "Moto Foxe" has a sweet old metal style riff as well as the solo and the song itself sounds like an 80's metal song (one you would hear on the Punk Goes Metal cd Fearless put out) making it stand out from the other songs on this album. To sum it up, Chixdiggit is your average pop-punk band... they have some original ideas and some pretty sweet parts here and there but there's nothing amazing about this cd.
