![]() Packed with trivia and mind-bending puzzles, this DVD/board game features content from all six Star Trek television series. View larger. |
Teams advance around the board by answering two types of questions: traditional trivia cards and DVD-based puzzles. The trivia cards, which resemble what you might find in Trivial Pursuit, come in three different categories: green "compendium" questions, red "events" questions, and yellow "culture" questions. They vary in difficulty, and some of the tougher questions are challenging enough to stump even the most seasoned Trekkies.
The main attraction, however, is the interactive DVD. Filled with video clips, sound bites and images from the franchise, the DVD challenges players to answer brain-teasing Trek puzzles. With a dozen different puzzle categories, the DVD puts your knowledge of Star Trek to the test. Categories include "Spatial Anomaly," where players must identify a character based on a distorted image, and "Coded Transmission," which challenges players to decrypt a secret message.
Something for Everyone -- From Cadets to Fleet Captains
The DVD has been designed with the fans in mind. You'll see cameos by your favorite characters, watch video clips from classic episodes, and be treated to narration by the Enterprise computer. You'll even do battle with a Romulan Warbird in the tiebreaker mode. All in all, it's a consummate Star Trek experience.
With hundreds of questions, Star Trek Scene It? has something for every type of Star Trek fan. It features questions from all six television shows and every motion picture (excluding the most recent 2009 film). The difficulty is also varied enough to keep everyone engaged -- from Star Trek savants to casual fans. Some of the DVD challenges are so riveting that even non-fans will enjoy themselves.
What's in the Box

I got the Star Trek Scene It? Deluxe game a few days ago, and I have to say it pretty much meets my lofty expectations.
The game itself pretty much plays out like any other Scene-It game out there. You can play a long or short game with 2 or more players (4 players/teams max), and go through the board answering either trivia card questions or video questions from the DVD (determined by the roll of the dice). The trivia questions for the most part range from simple to fairly obscure, and the DVD-based questions are accessible enough for those with a "normal" interest level in Trek. The hardcore will certainly feel vindicated for being able "to complete the line" of a video sequence before the multiple choice options even appear. If you aren't a fan or are unfamiliar with the franchise at all this game would be very difficult. There is also a "Party Play" feature on the DVD itself, which just selects Random video questions one after another without the use of the board at all. It's a nice mode to play in if you don't want to sit for a whole game. This edition comes with the metal game tokens as advertised which was a big plus for me. There's a $10 cheaper version out there with plastic pieces, but I demand the best! I enjoy Scene It games in general, and find this Star Trek edition to be more than worthy of carrying both the name of Star Trek and Scene It.

This was purchased for my husband for his birthday. He is a huge Star Trek fan. We played this with our adult children and he wiped the floor with us! He still found the questions to be quite challenging and was impressed with the caliber of questions. It was a good choice for him.

Ok, first off, I've been waiting for this game forever! It's a ton of fun, from the questions to the dvd play. Seems like there are lots of original series questions, but that might just be because I always get them wrong! Our 11 year old son absolutely loves the dvd questions more than the trivia cards. It's a load of fun for everyone from kids to adults. Not much else to say except it's an awesome game!
