So a great book all in all. Of course a lot of these you may already have known about if you do any kind of driving around Utah. But the amount of detail this book goes into makes it very worth it. Not only does it list each main drive in great details but it lists all sorts of off-shoots, back country byways, and other dirts roads that are worth taking. You cannot find this complete breadth of information succinctly laid out anywhere on google. The only thing I would add is that some of the roads are made out to sound scarier than they actually are. This is probably a combination of the type of car I have and the fact that some dirt roads actually get better over time. Just know your car and what it can do.

Just got back from my trip to Southern Utah. I was blown away by the diversity of the scenery and how hidden some of the most amazing features were. I took this book with me, along with tons of brochures and maps I had accumulated. The amount of information was pretty overwhelming.

The first time I used the book was on the first day of the trip - as we were driving we suddenly noticed on the side of the road what appeared to be black lava rock, which made no sense whatsoever and left us completely baffled. The next several miles we encountered more and more of it until I finally remembered I had this book in my purse. I pulled it out and sure enough, we were driving through an old lava flow. Who knew?!?

I was so happy that I didn't have to just plan the rest of our trip based on pretty marketing brochures.

The biggest PRO of this book was that it helped us narrow down the many things to see and really use our time efficiently - everything the author highly recommended was spectacular!

The only CON was that it takes a few minutes of studying in order to understand how the book is laid out. However, once you figure it out it's extremely handy.

I just completed a 9 day vacation based upon this book and it was the best money I spent!

There are few pictures in the entire book which is a shame, but the descriptions of the drives in the book are wonderful. In fact, the idea way to use this book would be with two people. One driving and the other reading the narrative as you drove.

I found the narrative to be spot on and the advice saved me much time since I knew what to look for.

5 stars. Color would well be worth the extra dollars especially in the Kindle edition!

This book proved to be very helpful as I drove to the national and state parks of Utah! I had to adjust because I was traveling east to west, rather than west to east as the author did. However, the routes were broken down nicely and I took advantage of many opportunities because of having this book handy at all times!

The drive attractions have been described very well in this book, particularly the history. Maps used are reasonably good although I would love to see more detail on them particularly in reference to interest points either spoken about or not. Photo selections were good in helping you to visualise the beauty and attractions described, however no colour photos which is disappointing particularly given this is meant to be about scenic driving and considering Utah's great wonder is its contrast of colours - thus it loses a star for this reason. I enjoy planning my drives and this book has been a great help.

Seems to be what I was looking for.
Gives you an idea of where you might like to go while on vacation by
providing various driving "trips".
We are traveling down from the Midwest, making our way through
Arizona, and up through Utah.
The problem I had was that the "sights" in southern Utah are so far apart,
you really have to have some idea on what you want to see, and these
scenic driving trips seem to provide that.

If you want to be safe, this is a must have. Describes the danger on some of the back roads with steep inclines. Yet it allows you to make your own eye popping, and jaw dropping moment, while looking at the beauty of southern Utah in slickrock country.
