Must Buy for any fan of music,

Great CD! The first time I listened to this CD, I didn't skip a track, and still i cant manage to skip one after listening to it countless times. The first time I popped this into my car's CD player, I must have taken the scenic route everywhere so i could sneak a couple more songs.. I have Panacea's Ink Is My Drink, and this CD might be better than their first (which i didn't think was possible when i was listening to it). Panacea is not a household name, but they definitely should be. In comparison to music that we listen to everyday, this cd blows them out of the water. Whether you like Hip-Hop or Jazz or live music or poetry, this is the CD for you. and dont think this is another one of those CDs that kill you with the intellectual conversation that puts you to sleep, this music has a great jazzy relaxed sound with almost a musical voice that blends with the music, and for those of you that are big fans of lyrics, the lyrics match the musical intensity. I heard that this group also goes by the name RPM (Restoring Poetry in Music) and that what they do on this scenic route of smooth jazz and poetic lyrics. I especially liked Pops Said..

What hip-hop has been missing,
By October (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews

After so many years of hip-hop sinking into a monotonously vulgar abyss, Panacea has finally restored the poetic lyrics and smooth beats that are the foundation of this genre of music. This is what hip-hop has long been missing. I HIGHLY recommend this CD!!

A must BUY for all hip hop heads,

I am not the type to write reviews.
However, I'm pulling for this album. After listening to it, front to back, and analyzing the messages... Just mind blowing. The beats are a concept in themselves and hit a soft spot in my heart. Especially hearing elements from original and sampled masterpieces (example: Between Earth and Sky). Not to mention the fact that Raw Poetic can spit!! I love the story and how it Progresses, and Degresses... Please take a listen, will not be regretted!

Its hard to summarize this album with words. Listening to it makes you feel like you are floating in the clouds. Lyrically, Raw Poetic takes you to another planet, flowing blissfully. Laying the groundwork is K Murdock, creating beats that leave you memorized. Don't take my word for it, give it a listen. It is truly one of the most beautiful hip hop albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Seamless, Solid... A Must Have,

Wow is this good! I heard this album for the first time last year on a drive from Birmingham, AL to Atlanta, GA listening to Radio Free Georgia (WRFG - THE best station in the Southeastern USA) and was impressed with not only the musicianship but the exceptional flow. I can't find a single fault. Panacea takes the best in the genre (Pete Rock/CL Smooth, Tribe Called Quest, Roots, etc.) and upstages them with an incredible effort. Five Stars out of Five.

One of the best hiphop albums to drop in a long time.,

This CD is already in my coveted top 20 list of classic hiphop albums. I haven't heard a hiphop album that is as cohesive and well put together as this one in a loooong while. Albums that come to mind in recent memory that are comparable to this are Blue & Exile's Below the Heavens, Game's Doctor's Advocate, Kanye's Late Registration & Graduation, and TI's Urban Legend (yes this was a fantastic album)...
This is an album you can listen to front to back, it's an amazing project. K-Murdock's production is like a breath of fresh air, it's original and musical. You really have to listen to this album as a whole, if you skip songs you are certainly depriving yourself of all it has to offer. Song's like "Epiphany" switch up at the end and make you wish the last 8 bars was an entire track!! I love it! "Flashback To Stardom" is probably my favorite track and one of the best songs I've ever heard period. Raw Poetic may take some getting used to with his quick and sporadic rhyming style, but once you get a feel for him, he fits perfectly with the musical backdrops provided by Murdock. I could go on about this album but I'm sure it's evident from the other reviews that these guys are the real deal. Please, support these guys, as they are 2 of the few hiphop artists actually creating great original music these days.

a great follow-up to an amazing album,
This review is from: Scenic Route (Audio CD)
Albums like this are the reasons why I'll never give up on real hip-hop. (tagline for My worthy albums).
The flow is old school at the same time is very lyrical and modern, its sort of alike KRS meets Talib but even that doesn't fully describe it, I'm not sure there anyone like him currently in hip-hop. The production is interesting and experimental without sacrificing Rawness and compliments the MC the way producers should. This album does indeed feel like a journey. Your taken from beginning to end and come out different on the other side.

Best Hip-Hop LP of 2007? This is it,
By dUB (Melbourne, AUSTRALIA) - See all my reviews

Ink is my drink was amazing, this one actually one-ups that LP.
I have not been able to take this out of my cd player in the car since I got it, one of the rare albums released these days that you can listen to from start to finish. It just has that flow, very smooth sounds. And it has all the elements that are pleasant to a hip-hop purists ears. Samples, dusty beats and creative poetic wordplay....but still so musical. It is summertime here in Melbourne, Australia....and this is my soundtrack of the summertime. If Panacea aint known and recognized after this album then cats are definately sleepin!! |
