“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness has never paid a shelter fee.”–Ellie

Zachary Collins isn’t proud of the fact that he faked being a psychic for a TV reality show and that he was so good at helping solve crimes that people believed him. When Hannah Dawson hires his security company to help protect two millionaires–the cat and dog in her care–Zach can’t say no. After all, unknown to Hannah, he unwittingly played a big role in ruining her life years before. While protecting Hannah and her pets, Zach gets two big shockers: first, he might actually be psychic when her pets start communicating with him and second, he might be falling for a client…

“This woman posed a serious threat to his vow never to fall for a client.”–Zach’s thoughts

This is a fast and fun read with a nice mystery attached to it. I loved the irony that Zach becomes an actual psychic after pretending to be one for so long, and as he laments–it’s for animals! I liked that little twist, and it was fun reading the pets’ thoughts. If you have a cat or a dog, you’ll enjoy the stereotypical depiction of a plotting and intelligent cat and a loving but dumb dog.

“This doesn’t mean I like you. It just means I’m cold, and you’re warm. Get over it.”–Abbott the cat

I really liked Zach’s character and can understand why he does what he does because of his background. Hannah is an all-around sweetheart, and it’s easy to see why Zach falls for her. Zach’s character seemed to be more fleshed out though, and I liked learning about his background, but there were some unanswered questions about his past that I was still curious about at the end of the book.

Other reviewers have said this too - this book has something for everyone. A bit of a mystery, some suspense, humour, pace, and twists you don't see coming - and a whole lot of romance.

The paranormal aspects were very subtle so if you don't usually read paranormal, don't let that put you off!

Zachary is a yummy hero, but I really enjoyed that sometimes he needed to be rescued by his heroine. And I loved that Hannah wasn't a weak character waiting to be rescued either.

I read this book in one sitting, which is about the highest praise I can give any book. Angela Campbell's voice hooked me and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into her next book, 'Something Wicked'.

The animals make for interesting characters and there was a lot of humor. The bad guys never seemed all that scary, and every good guy is "man candy". I liked it in the same way that I enjoy a witty sitcom on TV. I liked it enough to immediately purchase the next book in the series. I am in the middle of that one, and it is just as enjoyable.

This book is so entertaining, I really was captivated by the characters that the author Angela Campbell created. Zach, the psychic detective, is immediately likeable and from page one I hoped that him and Hannah would get together. But the real stars of this book are the adorable, funny and witty Abbott and Costello, Hannah's cat and dog. I just smiled the whole way through the book, it was extrememly easy to read, very well written and so lovely to read a romantic lovestory with a difference. I hope we get to see more from this little gang!

ON THE SCENT by Angela Campbell is an interesting and exciting Contemporary Romantic Suspense. A modern day Dr. Dolittle meet Hannah Dawson. What a wacky, funny story. Hannah Dawson,a nurse, inherits $10 million and a dog and a cat. So begins the adventure of Hannah Dawson and Zackary Collins, the street smart private investigator who just happened to have been an ex-TV star of the popular T.V. Show "The Psychic Detective". Hannah now needs protecting as well as her inherited canine and feline. Zach is attracted to Hannah, needs to protect her,she is a client and of limits and has a few secrets of his own. A romantic suspense meets romantic comedy. Well written with engaging characters,a feline,a canine, a quirky nurse and a delicious detective. OH did I mention it is hilarious, serious and filled with passion! A must read for anyone who enjoys humor, animals, hunky not so psychic detectives, a bit of suspense,a little romance and lots of humor. All I can really say is... it is a wacky, funny, hilarious romance with a bit of suspense and two interesting animals. A quick read with a few twists and turns. You will not regret picking up "On the Scent" for your summer fun! Received for an honest review from the author.

I liked Campbell's voice as a writer and really enjoyed the humous moments of the book with the pets. These sets of dialogue were awesome! This love story is a madcap caper kind of romance-romantic comedy meets romance suspense.

While the book was fun, the characters did not really captivate me because so much of who they were was revealed in backstory rather than woven into the love story. The hero resists so much that I don't really get the falling in love feeling I so enjoy in books like this. I needed more of the relationship to really invest in this story.

I did like the secondary characters a great deal and will check out books about them that may come along.

I was given this book for my honest review. So, there you have it!
