This review is from: Scent Of A Killer (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
Photographer Jenna Meyerson is shocked when her ex-husband Adam Lear arrives at the gallery displaying an exhibit of her work "The Faces of New York". Adam feels that a former client of Jenna, the CEO of rival Faxel, did something illegal, and her pictures have the proof. She mentions client confidentiality, but promises to think about it. The next day Jenna learns from the TV news that someone, probably a serial killer, murdered Adam in Central park.

Jenna does not believe that Adam would venture into the park at night as he knew better plus she remembers the limping bum who seemed to follow them. She turns to their childhood friend Frank Renaldi for help but he is nasty to her. Frank knows he loved Jenna then and still does so he must keep his distance to keep his sanity. He must consider his teenage son's well being. Still Frank begins making inquiries and soon struggles to keep Jenna safe from unknown enemies and him.

This is an exciting romantic suspense tale starring two delightful heroic champions who readers will adore. The story line is fast-paced even when introducing the players. The killer is brilliantly described while he hides his prime income making money through legitimate activates like a Time Square coffee shop. Though Adam's theory is not explained to readers or the heroine until late in the tale, fans will enjoy this terse thriller due a strong cast engaged in a cat and mouse survivor war.

** Unfortunately, relational transitions are jumpy and the plot tends to meander, as well as having holes. What could have been a wonderful story falls short. **

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I'd expected, October 1, 2004

I must be the only person who DID NOT find the story "Scent of a Killer" engaging, thought-provoking and a great romatic suspense.

I was really disappointed in the development of a relationship between Jenna and Frank. It's like, one minute he's a friend and the next, she's in love with him? I thought this needed a little more development, as well as the reasons why Frank was such a butt when he was younger and didn't fight for the woman he loved. It might have made all the difference.

The plot involving the Russian mob was a little... well, I guess it wasn't my style. Interestingly enough, I normally love stories involving the mob.

3.0 out of 5 stars New author for me, August 1, 2010
This review is from: Scent Of A Killer (Mira) (Mass Market Paperback)
During her first exhibit, Jenna's ex-husband shows up and asks her for help. He suspects a high-profile company has ties to a group of international criminals. He thinks that Jenna may have some photos to prove that can prove his suspicions correct. Before she can agree to give him the photos, Adam is found dead. The police think his death was due to a random act of violence, but Jenna suspects differently. Jenna asks for help for Adam's best friend Frank, who is now a private investigator. With Jenna's life in danger, Frank must stay one step ahead of a killer to keep her alive. To complicate things, Jenna and Frank have a history of their own that they must overcome in order for them to be able to work together.

This was a quick read. It was just okay for me. I liked the development of the relationship between Jenna and Frank, and the mystery part kept me riveted. This was a new author for me, and I wouldn't mind reading another of her books.

Really liked her books. Was a new author for me.

Had loved the Mary Higgins Clark books and these remind me a little of her books just a tad more racy in parts. Still a good read.
