A witty, sexy tale that will make you laugh out loud!,

Olivia is a woman determined to spice up her typically bland life... Or so says her best friend anyway. She has recently discovered she possess some unusual powers, so she figures why not throw caution to the wind, and let vivacious Janel show her how the other half lives. And after all, a deal was a deal, and she wasn't one to squelch on a pinkie swear.
Roberto is a suave, cultured vampire, who usually goes for leggy beauties, who can keep up with him in and out of the bedroom. But, he is inexplicably drawn to the sensay, who has a habit of breaking into song at the most inappropriate moments. Their wild trek across the Pine Barrens of New Jersey to the shores of Lake Ontario, eluding those who hope to use Olivia's power for their own gains, leaves Roberto wondering if he'll lose his heart, as well as his mind, to the one woman he has trouble keeping up with...in and out of the bedroom. Ms. Stephens razor-sharp wit makes this story a fun, hilarious romp with memorable characters and sizzling sensuality. Olivia is the heroine we can all relate to, who captures the heart of the hero we all dream about! Lisa Phillips ~ Author of Obsession Everlasting

I ordered Scent of a Vampire By Jude Stephens after hearing the book mentioned on some of the Amazon Forums for new authors. I have been very satisfied with many of the books mentioned there and had no problem placing my order.
I will try and write this WITH NO SPOILERS, because I would do a great dis-service to you and the author if I gave away too much. The book opens with two best friends getting away . Olivia is going to be 30. She is an introvert, shy and has really bad self esteem issues due to a very short marriage that left her feeling "not special". On the other hand her best friend Janel, who is beautiful and has always been the "star" wants Olivia to go away and really let her hair down, hence the trip to Atlantic City. While checking into the hotel our girls meet two Very Hot men, Roberto and Alexander. Both are very interested in Olivia and she is questioning their sanity because Janel is being ignored. Olivia has very little experience sexually and her world will now explode with these 2 wonderful men wanting her. We then learn thru the storyline that opens from here that both Roberto and Alex are Vampires and Olivia is the Sensay that has been destined to have been born, her powers said to emerge at 30 years old. We also learn of the Guardians who are not so happy that other world figures live and that the Sensay is coming into her own.So the struggle begins. Our author takes us on a ride of sexual tension, mystery, friendship, and action. The characters are well formed and the story is fast paced. Olivia learns of her past, her heritage and works on coming to grips with it and the new powers she is learning about....She has such a lightheartedness breaking out into song whenever something happens that just made me laugh out loud during some of her outbursts.... Along the way we meet some wonderful characters: Leeds, Christoforo, Andy and Mark who I hope we will meet AGAIN in a sequel...I can see many more books to this story Ms Stephens...How about it??? Looking foward to book 2,3,???

I thought this book started out a bit rough. The dialog and plot layed out read in a style as if I had typed a story on my own computer. Midway thourgh, the book hit its stride and picked up steam.
Two almost 30 year old friends head out for a fun weekend for Oliva's 30th birthday. As they are checking in to their hotel they run into two hot men who eventually end up telling Oliva she is a Scentsy, a being who is one with earth and has supernatural hearing and scent among many other powers to learn. This story takes the reader on an adventure as Oliva tries to discover who she is as she is being protected by vampires and hunted by the Guardians. The Guardians are a group who wants to purify the earth and rid the world of vampires and other such "evil" supernaturals. This turned out to be a fun read, althought a little too much on the sex. This doesn't normally bother me, but it was so repetitive. There were a lot of storylines left open ended and I have to believe there will be a second book that will come out which I would buy.

Pure Perfume!,

This review is from: Scent of A Vampire (Paperback)
Scent of a Vampire is cool, fun, sexy and original.
This is the first book I've read of Jude Stephens' and I'm already a fan. Her writing is easy, laugh-out-loud funny, and sexy. The characters are intriguing and so is the plot. I was engaged from the opening line, and there were parts where I found myself turning pages so quickly I could have been sitting in front of an electric fan. With Scent of a Vampire, Stephens gives us not just one vampire and a heroine that has skills no one else seems to notice -- as you may find in much of the genre -- but the author provides two vampires, and a heroine with a skillset so strong that a group of fanatics named the Guardians want her power to creative their own species, all while exploring vampire myths of Native American legends, a cannon of legend that is otherwise woefully under-recognized and which I've never seen before. The Scent of a Vampire is pure perfume!

Delightful romp into the paranormal,

I just finished Scent of a Vampire and I have to say I LOVED it! Filled with suspense, intrigue, blazing hot male vampires, very human problems and issues and a great story line. The book begns when two best friends deciding to take off on vacation. Poor Olivia deserves a break in her life, especially being so close to 30. She's had a hard life, and suffers from some true insecurity issues due to a very horrible marriage. Janel is the type of friend that all women want to have in their lives, especially if they don't already have one. Off they go, on a much needed trip to the sin city of the East, Atlantic City.
The story picks up rapidly after this and I just adored the Vampires Roberto and Alexander. Sultry, sexy, and oh-so-wicked. Both men are well described and leap, sizzling, from the pages. Great read and I'm waiting for books 2 and 3, to continue on with this enchanting tale.

I just LOVED this book! It has been a long time since I have been prompted to contact an author, but, as soon as I finished this one I started looking for her. Olivia is a great character and Alex and Roberto are smokin hot guys both wanting a "bite" of her. Along the way the secondary characters get your interest also, I hope to see them in their own stories.
Jude has gone straight to the top of my list of favorite authors, looking forward to each new book!

I love books like this! I devoured it in one evening. I could not go to sleep until I finished it. I did not anticipate this book to be this good & was initially reluctant but by the time I finished reading the sample, I was hooked. This will definitely go on my lists as one of my favorites. I was willingly pulled into the love triangle between Olivia, Roberto & Alex. The characters were so endearing and lovable,I even I found myself rooting for certain ones, only to read a little more and switch my choice to another. I couldn't choose! Caution, the sex scenes get a little graphic so if you're a faint of heart, this may not be the book for you. Overall, it's a great book and highly recommended.

A new favorite genre!,

Scent Of A Vampire is an steamy paranormal romance that I couldn't put down. While I have never taken to the paranormal genre I found myself entranced by the depth of the characters. Jude Stephens was able to make me feel the emotions that were playing out with every page that I turned. Had I not read Jude's story I may never had found a new genre which I enjoy. It is a truly outstanding book which I would read again. However, I must warn you that if you read this book the author leaves you wanting more. I only hope there is a sequel in the works!

Scent of a Vampire,
This review is from: Scent Of A Vampire (Paperback)
Olivia Sherman is a physical therapist who works in a hospital. Right now she is on her way to Atlantic City with her best friend for what they hope is a hot and rumpled weekend. Right away they spot two guys who would certainly fit the bill, but a strange smell causes Olivia to remember her last few weeks and the odd happenings that occurred. Looking for the source, Olivia meets the two men and agrees to a dinner foursome. It's going to be a night that changes everything. Roberto Valente is a dark and extremely sensuous vampire to his part of the council and used to being in command and having his orders followed. Things aren't going his way when his friend and child, Alexander Sandstrom is light and carefree and determined to do things differently. Alexander is the first to meet Olivia and he immediately decides to mark her as his. That should give Alexander a chance to find out if he and Olivia are meant to be. However, dinner ends quickly when things go crazy and they are forced to run. This puts Olivia with Roberto and he's determined to have her as his own. Roberto and Alexander are opposites in every way and extremely attractive because of those differences. Every woman dreams of having two sexy men fighting over her and that is just what Olivia has. But there is a reason why she is suddenly so desirable and sensitive to touch - Olivia is a Sensay who has just come into her powers. While Roberto and Alexander try to explain to Olivia what is going on, there is another powerful group who wants Olivia to help them destroy all of the evolved species. They have no problems killing to get what they want. It becomes a race to survive and get Olivia to a place where she can train and fulfill her destiny. Only the strong will live to see another day and maybe get the girl. Two men fighting over the same woman, will she choose either one of them? That is the choice Olivia has to make in Scent of a Vampire. Olivia just wanted some down time and maybe a hot weekend away. Roberto and Alexander always knew that a special Sensay would appear but neither expected they would both want her. The concept and premise intrigued me and I couldn't wait to see how it would unfold. For the majority of the book I enjoyed watching Roberto and Alexander vie for Olivia. However, that changed as I realized I was running out of pages and things were a total mess. When you create a world and it's rules, there are reasons why you made those rules. When you decide to break those rules there should also be specific reasons. I was unable to find these reasons for breaking the rules and as a result I was left wanting and unfulfilled at the end of Scent of a Vampire. Just because it didn't work for me does not mean it won't for you if you are also intrigued by the plot. Jo Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed |
