Book Description

January 1, 2002 Capital Crimes
Some years ago in a small Southern town, two seven-year-old girls were mysteriously kidnapped from their homes with little trace, striking terror into the hearts and minds of a once peaceful, trusting community. "Run, run as fast as you can," he whispers as he grabs each child at play. "You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man." Brought in by the local police when they could not find the two girls, Lindsay Freeman (Adams' fictional crime-solving clairvoyant) delves into the mind of the kidnapper -- seeing, feeling, even smelling his presence. Packed with horror and suspense, D.J. describes the kidnapper as if she were inside his mind and being, feeling with him the demonic urge to steal the little girls as his "pets," and the pain of his own childhood abuse. "I will take care of her for you Mommy, I will stroke and powder the skin of the precious little pet. She is mine now, blow her a kiss in the wind and say good-bye."

About the Author

D. J. Adams was knocked into a swimming pool at age nine and nearly drowned after hitting her head. Taken to a local emergency room, she awakened from a month-long coma unable to speak or move, but she could see, hear and feel others, and perceive the events in their lives. Since that time she has learned to use this clairvoyance to help find fourteen missing children alive. D.J. Adams is the author of SCENTING EVIL (Capital, 2001) and RUNNING CRAZY (Capital, 2003), the first two volumes in her fictional crime thriller series based on her real case files.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, March 12, 2003

This review is from: Scenting Evil: Crime Fiction from the Case Files of a Crime-Solving Clairvoyant (Capital Crimes) (Paperback)
I am not the author or a friend or family member of the author, and I thought the book was really good. While it's true the author is no Shakespeare, it is worth reading for the scary, intriguing story alone.

This is a great summer beach read!
