I bought this Sceptre 19" LED HDTV with DVD for my elderly mother. We think it is really great! The picture is fantastic and the DVD player is simple to use. About the only complaint would be the 2 3-watt speakers aren't the greatest. But, what do you expect from a small inexpensive tv? There are 3 HDMI ports and a 3mm output for headphones or a better speaker system. I only paid $129 online from Walmart. No complaints here. I would have given this 5 stars, but the speakers drops my rating to 4. If you're looking for a great performing inexpensive television... BUY IT!

The specs currently listed are incorrect so I just wanted to let you know that the TV without stand measures 18" x 12" x 2.0" / TV with stand - 18" x 14" x 7". I own this TV and have it in my kitchen on my bakers rack. Picture is excellent. Sound is definitely not your big TV sound. However, I knew going into this that I would be connecting it to my Soundfreaq SFQ-01 speaker with an aux cable. Now the sound is superb. If you're not happy with the sound, there is always the option of connecting it to a speaker you may already have or purchasing an affordable one somewhere. I also have it connected to my cable wall jack with a coax cable. The remote and settings on the TV are pretty straight forward. Nothing complicated. The biggest drawback for me, if you even consider it a negative, is that many of the input/output connections on the back of the TV are set really close together which made it a little difficult to hook up everything that I needed (and I have small hands); difficult, but not impossible. I was fortunate enough to purchase this when it was $99.99. I feel I certainly got my money's worth. Just a tip, try going onto other websites using the make and model number and reading the specs and reviews there also. I feel I got exactly what I needed and what I paid for.

I bought this inexpensive TV/DVD for a friend who is ill and needed a reliable, simple to use system of good quality since he spends a lot of time watching it. He had a very easy time programming the remote and using the machine. He was also very satisfied with the quality of the picture and the sound.
I would absolutely recommend this product in terms of quality and price.

So we're staying at my in-laws for a week and while they're spending the night at camp, my wife and I are using their bed. And they've got a 19 inch tube TV that dates back to Clinton's first term and this picture sucks. Like everyone has a cone head and looks burnt orange sucks.

That's when we got the idea to lump father's day and mother's day together and buy them a new TV. I looked at several options and the best bet appeared to be a Samsung, but before I could pull the trigger I noticed it had HDMI and component inputs, whereas my in-laws only have an old cable outlet. So I needed to find something cheap and with a TV tuner. And that limits my options a whole lot.

Enter the Sceptre. It's got every port imaginable. You need HDMI, it's got HDMI. You got RCA cables, it does red, white, and yellow. The picture quality is okay, but my in-laws don't have HD, so I was looking at a SD signal stretched. And as far as that goes it looks alright. The sound is a bit lacking, but if you tinker with the equalizer you can improve on it. I found the Jazz setting best for removing excess treble. But if that doesn't float your boat you can always plug in a set of external speakers.

A little research told me the Sceptre uses the same remote programming codes as Sony TV's. However, since Sony doesn't make a TV/DVD combo, you're kind of out of luck with programming the DVD functions. However, the included Sceptre remote is well designed and large enough not to get lost like some other no-name discount electronic remotes.

I can't comment on reliability, but since this unit was so cheap I picked up a 3 year SquareTrade warranty to ensure it'll last until 2016 at least.

Is it a 5 star TV? Heck no. But if your budget is $150 or less and you need lots of ports, there is no TV finer than this Sceptre.

I've only had it for a week, but it works well (I tried a few DVDs). Everything is easy to setup - the remote works without any programming. I don't have a cable line and this works fine as just a DVD player without it. I don't know much about audio or video quality, so I can't comment on that, but next time I will probably get a bigger screen.

NOTE: This does NOT play Blu-ray (BD)

Like others have said, the product is very nice. But the sound is marginal. I hooked up two little PC speakers and now the sound is fine.

I bought this little TV for my room while working in Afhanistan and it works great, it has a great picture and the sound is good. would be a great TV for your kids room or a dorm room. I love the way the DVD player has resume play when you return to your DVD programe.

Received the tv yesterday. I went to set it up today, but there wasn't a power cord. My son found an adapter that would bring the power red light on. I called the manufacturer tech support and had to leave a message. I have not gotten a response thus far. We were able to get the red light to come on that shows it has power, but no picture. Also, it seems to be leaning very far forward even when we tightened the screws. My son even took the screws completely out and put them back in thinking that would help. All in all--not a very happy customer so far . This was to be a gift, but I won't be able to give it now. I will update status if I receive anymore news about the product.
12/27/12 12:00 pm Manufacturer called back finally. Will send me adapter for power cord. No apology received. I already bought another tv BEFORE Christmas. I'm not sure whati will do with this one? I will update if the tv works once I receive the missing part.
1/12/13 Received The same cord as before (the part that plugs into the wall--not the DC part that plugs into the TV). Called the company back and got a live person!! Finally received the right part this week and the tv now works. It still leans forward a bit. Overall, I guess it's ok. I will keep it myself now that I went through all this hassle. I will not buy this brand again.
