1.0 out of 5 stars Obtuse, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Schaum's Outline of College Chemistry, 9ed (Schaum's Outline Series) (Paperback)
I purchased this Schaum's to review College Chemistry that I took over 20 years ago. All I can say is that it is poorly written, fails to explain the theory and formulas that support a concept, and makes unfounded assumptions about your knowledge as it progresses. My advice: look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, March 25, 2009
This review is from: Schaum's Outline of College Chemistry, 9ed (Schaum's Outline Series) (Paperback)
I used this book as a complement for the general chemistry course I took many years ago. It` s excellent as it has a lot of interesting problems To study theory you will have the text that your professor will recommend you.
It s not expensive so my piece of advice is that you should buy it

1.0 out of 5 stars a poor job, August 6, 2008

This review is from: Schaum's Outline of College Chemistry, 9ed (Schaum's Outline Series) (Paperback)
No, I'm not going to make the usual silly complaint that people make when
they buy a Schaum's Outline: that it's not comprehensive. Of course it's
not: it's just an outline. However, even as an outline this one leaves a lot to be desired. The theory summaries are poorly presented. These authors are
not exactly a hit when it comes to putting ideas across. A lot of extra concepts and formulas are necessary for you to tackle the problems. Even the
solved problems show this clearly. Chapter 2, for instance, is a big mess.
A better book might be Chemistry: Concepts and Problems
