1.0 out of 5 stars Riddled with mistakes, February 6, 2009
This review is from: Schaum's Outline of Introduction to Probability and Statistics (Paperback)
Conceptual discription of the concepts are adequate, but the book has far to many mistakes to instill confidence in the subject matter. It was like walking a minefield. Proof: page 33, fig. 1-33 sums are incorrect, page 34, 1.21.(b) incorrect use of the mean, page 135 (b) P(H) should be P(T). Understand that I only reviewed 10 pages in this book. Shame on Schaum's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage, excellent examples and solved questions, January 17, 2012
This review is from: Schaum's Outline of Introduction to Probability and Statistics (Paperback)
I did my university statistics and probability course almost 15 years ago. Recently I felt I need to brush up my statistics knowledge and then continue with more advanced books.

I have used and seen around 10 introductory probability and statistics books. This one is special because of the large number of solved and also supplementary questions. The coverage is also excellent for an introductory course (which is sufficient for undergraduate or even postgraduate in some fields).

My hobby is to read Shaums books and solve the problems. I normally repeat that a few times for each book until I find I am quite confident on the topic.
