I bought this book to augment my text book/studyguide for my University 300 level introductory medical microbiology course. This book fit the bill perfectly. It is in a question and answer format, has pictures, diagrams and quizzes at the end of each chapter. I would read this before I read my textbook, and would do the practice quizzes after I read my textbook and it really helped me to understand and remember the concepts. This study guide is also a lot more up to date than my text book was, so that was nice as well. Great practice quizzes... I got a 4.0!

This book is a great complement to Alcamo's Micriobiology 8th Edition. It's chapter by chapter, simplified and perfect for on the go reading. I found it really helpful to read this first, then go back to the text to read and really understand. The review is great as an additional source to test your knowledge.

I think this book is wonderful, when I had my Microbiology class I used it along with my microbiology textbook by name "Microbiolgy, An Introduction." by Gerald J Tortora. You know it really prepared my for my exams and it made microbiology even more interesting. You know I got of final grade of an A!!.
I think any serious student of Microbiology should give it a try.

I purchased this book when I took an accelerated course in organic chem(I will never do that again!). Needless to say without this book I would have never passed Micro, this book is to be used in conjunction with your textbook. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there were a few typos in the publication.

...the paper is probably of the lowest quality and still be called a 'book'. Think newspaper. I know, all the Schaum's book are like that. But for the price you pay, other publishers seem to be okay using better paper, so why can't this one? You better not highlight the pages because it will bleed through, and be careful hand-writing notes in the margins, you just might rip right through the paper. If you want a disposable book to flip through, this will work just fine. If you want a study guide, you are better off looking elsewhere: try A&P Cliff Quick Review or Color Atlas of Physiology (this one is more expensive, but I was able to pick up an older edition used for about same price as this so call 'book', and it has way better color pictures and even more in-depth explanation of the content.)
