Lifesaver!,
This review is from: Schaum's Quick Guide to Writing Great Research Papers (Quick Guides) (Paperback)
This book is a must for any level college student. I was recently shopping for a book that would give me some pointers for completing a research paper for grad school. Let me be the first to say...It is a Gem! It has become my bible.

Straight and to the point,

Apologize up front for any grammatical errors contained in this review...it's late and I'm working on my thesis...:)But I had to give kudos!
Well, for me, this was the perfect resource! I am writing my first Master's thesis and I just needed to understand the basics (ie. structure, layout, approach...etc). I already know how to write, I already understand the process of getting your topic approved, selecting a review board, how frustrating writing is....I didn't need a book that went on and on for pages about the difficulties and challenges of writing a thesis or a dissertation. I get it! Most books I found on this topic just seemed designed to help relieve the reader from the anxieties of the process, a "How to cope," if you will. After reading this book, I was equipped with what I needed to get started and build the framework for my paper. I'm no longer staring at a blank page and a blinking cursor. It helped me structure my thoughts, creating a sound foundation on which I can build. Other books I've reviewed read like a self help book, with only a few chapters dedicated to explaining the nuts and bolts of a thesis paper. If you don't need an emotional support system supplied to you through a book, this is your source. With that said, this book is very basic and, I'm sure I will utilize other sources along the way but, for the most part, this book has provided me with 80% of what I need to know. Thank you Laurie Rozakis for keeping it simple and to the point! (Unlike this review.) Now back to writing, writing, writing....

This book is very helpful in describing the research form. The samples used were also helpful in elaborating further on each topic. I found the book easy to read and gets straight to the point. The book doesn't waste your time.

This book would be great if you have no knowledge at all to with regards to anything dealing with research papers. However if what your looking for is something to help hone your writing skills to produce better research papers look elsewhere.
Honestly this isn't a terrible book. It is all about relevancy. Again if you have no knowledge as to what a research paper is or how to organize and write one I would say go for it. If you have that basic understanding but want to improve and brings your B's and C's up to A's look elsewhere.

Practical for Undergraduate and Graduate Students,

Though I purchased this from Amazon, I first saw this book in the campus bookstore and thought it would be useful reference for students writing research papers. The graduate students who have used this reference for writing research papers or theses have told me it was very useful. After reading material these same students wrote before and after using this book I can attest that their writing improved (hopefully as a result of the material presented in the book). The suggestions presented by authors for organizing thoughts and constructing the paper are very helpful to those who lacked sufficient training or experience writing basic and more advanced material. I recommend this book to any student (or instructor) looking for some basic, practical information for developing a paper that is well written.

I bought this book specifically because it says it has APA and Chicago formatting style and yet NO WHERE in the index do you find either style and looking through the book, it isn't there either. Waste of money.

It helped me get everything organized so I could get my research paper written. I'm a non-traditional student, but I believe this book would be great for teens.
