This review is from: Schiaparelli Fashion Review Paper Dolls (Paperback)
I'm a big fan of this amazing fashion designer of the 50's and this book showed parts of her work that I didn't know. Although she has a big role in the fashion world, I couldn't find many photos or drawings about her work, and this book helped me a lot with that. She based her work in surrealism and inovated using colors such as shocking pink that weren't used in fashion before. All dolls are in color and Tom Tierney makes sure everything is impecable.

Schiaparelli, April 14, 2005
This review is from: Schiaparelli Fashion Review Paper Dolls (Paperback)
While I liked Tom Tierney's illustrations in this paper doll book, I thought the selection of costumes didn't fully reflect the creativity of Elsa Schiaparelli. The costumes are lovely but too sedate and conservative to be representative of a designer who was inspired by surrealism and often shocked the fashion world with her ideas.
The rendering of the dolls is a little odd: their eyes are completely blacked out, giving them an eerie quality.
