5.0 out of 5 stars This isn't a "poor me" or "my miserable life with SZA" book.
This isn't a "poor me" or "my miserable life with SZA" book. I am really glad I bought and read this book. There are too many "poor me" books out there and people really don't need to read them and feel more down and out. I plan to give some these books to a friend or two.

I am so glad I read this book. I wish it was available to me

1.0 out of 5 stars this is not a book, but a booklet
This booklet is a pamphlet written by someone who is diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and doesn't even write about her take on what it means but instead answers very broad questions about mental health issues such as medication management and doctors. I don't know why she thinks she answers these questions well because she really does not. She never even mentions...

This isn't a "poor me" or "my miserable life with SZA" book. I am really glad I bought and read this book. There are too many "poor me" books out there and people really don't need to read them and feel more down and out. I plan to give some these books to a friend or two.

I am so glad I read this book. I wish it was available to me
when I was twelve years old. I am now 48 years old now.
And with all my years of Hospitalizations and Doctors Visits
I have had to learn through hard knocks the
information which is contained in this book.

It does not matter if you have just been diagnosed or that you have had your Schizoaffective Disorder or other Mental Illness for a number of years. I can say that this book is good for the patient as well as for parents and caregivers; that need help and understanding on how to best help themselves or there love ones so they can receive the correct treatments.
And live a very happy and peaceful life without worry or fear.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a Nurse Educator's Perspective, December 3, 2007
This review is from: Schizoaffective: A Happier and Healthier Life (Paperback)
I plan to require this book for students in my nursing class next semester. It offers excellent insight for anyone trying to cope with mental illness, their physicians, families, and hospitals. Very clearly written with some excellent advice. I think this will increase understanding for not only patients but for all those who work with them. An excellent book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hopeful Recovery, January 21, 2008

Schizoaffective- A Happier and Healthier Life

This is a super book. I sure wish that i had this when i was first DX with SZA. It would of been a Godsend. It should be in every Pdocs waiting room. And given free with the first psych medication presciption.

It would save a lot of patients from needless worry, anxiety and grief. While setting them on to the path of recovery right from the get go.

I highly recommend this practical and easy to read manual on mental wellness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, Basic Book About Schizoaffective Disorder, July 6, 2008
This review is from: Schizoaffective: A Happier and Healthier Life (Paperback)
This book is not only good for those who have Schizoaffective Disorder, but also their families. When I was first diagnosed I asked if there were any good books out there about this disorder, (this was several years ago) they said something like just read the books for Bipolar Disorder AND Schizophrenia. I really wish this little book was out there when I was first diagnosed because it answers many of the questions you're likely to have when first diagnosed. It isn't heavily scientific or a memoir. It's almost like an interview with a person who has this illness. It's very short, but that's not a bad thing. There were times when they had me medicated to the point that my attention span couldn't last through something the length of a comic book. This little book is a perfect introduction. It's worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great help for families, December 19, 2007
This review is from: Schizoaffective: A Happier and Healthier Life (Paperback)
As a librarian I am always looking for books that will help my customers, but are also on an approachable reading level for most of our population. This book is fantastic! I think that even a older elementary student could read it and find parts of it very helpful, particularly the self-esteem issues that are addressed in the book. Parents of children that have been diagnosed with mental illness would find it a great help. I have been recommending it to teachers and others that I know who deal with these issues.

1.0 out of 5 stars this is not a book, but a booklet, April 24, 2009

This review is from: Schizoaffective: A Happier and Healthier Life (Paperback)
This booklet is a pamphlet written by someone who is diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and doesn't even write about her take on what it means but instead answers very broad questions about mental health issues such as medication management and doctors. I don't know why she thinks she answers these questions well because she really does not. She never even mentions symtoms and refers to the website for schioaffective. There are many better sources on line for this disorder and this book serves no real purpose. Such question include, "why me?", "should i go to church?", "what kind of clothes can i wear in the hospital." Don't waste your money on this.

1.0 out of 5 stars schizoaffective:a happier and healthier life, August 5, 2008
This review is from: Schizoaffective: A Happier and Healthier Life (Paperback)
I was disappointed from the shcizoaffective side of things. This book could have been written for any mental illness and in this view it is an excellent portrayal, honest and encouraging hope that it can be done. A happier life is possible. However, I was looking for more specific relationship between schizoaffective disorder, its symptoms and recovery .
The title is misleading. If schizoaffective was omitted from the title then I wouldnt have been disappointed.
