Got it...love it...local locksmith put it on for $80.........fit right into the previous keyed bolt deadlock hole.........you can enter 19 different codes and any code can be deleted in seconds. Comes with the 9 volt battery. Did lots of research on various type....called the Schlage Company....talk about helpful and customer service. This is my second one...ordered one 3 weeks ago, had it installed...BRAVO ordered another one. When you open the box be sure to KEEP the "factory" program code which is imprinted on a sticker (you can't miss it as it is on top).....this is important...you might never need it but then again you'll be up a creek if you don't have it and do need it. Reliable? Hey the company has been around a looooooooooooooong time...plus the locksmith told me it was first class. BTW...if you are wondering the difference in description...same lock but it has a "V" in the model number....that means visible which is important to vendors selling the item in a retail store (you can see it). Like I could care and actually wanted it in a box not plastic sealed. Price ?? Amazon had the best price beat by at least $15.

This thing is SLICK! I was worried about seeing the numbers in the dark and without my glasses on, but the keypad is well lit and easy to use. After maybe a 10 minute learning curve, I'm up and running with my new entry code. My husband said it was easy to install, even though we didn't have a deadbolt before and he had to drill new holes, but if you are replacing an old unit, it'll slide right in. We're going to get another one for the garage service door.

We wanted an easy to use deadlock for our front door. This lock was perfect; it color matched our Schlage antique brass door handle and allowed us to program our own four digit code. It was easy to program our own code, but you could also use one of the codes pre-programmed into the lock. For the slightly more paranoid, there is an option to clear all the codes and set them yourself. The unit can hold multiple codes, so you can have separate codes for yourself, your neighbors, babysitter, etc. and then delete any one specific code once it is no longer needed.

If you are wondering if there is a difference between the Plymouth and Camelot versions of the deadlock -- they are functionally identical. The only difference is how they look; the Plymouth has rounded edges, while the Camelot has more shape to the edges. It took me a while to figure out the difference was only cosmetic!

The 9V battery is easy to replace via screws in the back of the lock, and the keypad will alert you to a low battery condition. The instructions say the 9V battery should last around three years.

Overall, we are happy with the purchase and would recommend the deadbolt to others. Lowe's and Home Depot carry the lock as well, but they don't have the full color/finish selection that Amazon did.

Great lock but the keypad needs a cover* to protect it from sunlight and abrasions. The soft plastic buttons, which stick out, are too fragile to be left out in the open. The number 4 button got knocked off and the Schlage button is hanging by a thread. The printed numbers are also wearing off. Will try to contact Schlage to see if they'll replace it.

*A hinged cover or a sliding door cover would be a simple fix.

I purchased three of these locks to replace existing Kwikset deadbolts (installed in 1981). The hole spacing requirement (center to center) for this Schlage electronic deadbolt is not compatible with older doors which were drilled for the Kwikset lockset and deadbolt combination. Instead of a 10 minute install, it took close to two hours per door because I had to enlarge the hole for the deadbolt to keep it from interfering with the mounting ring on my Kwikset lockset. Even after I modified it, they still touch and I could not tighten any screws until I forced the deadbolt higher. This is dumb engineering, there was no reason for the assembly to encroach on the area used by the lower handle. They obviously did not try this on any existing doors. It works find if you are drilling your own holes in a new door.

Only downside for me was my steel clad door had a 1.5 inch hole and the lock needs 2.125" hole. !CONUNDRUM! Searching the web I discovered a few potential solutions. The most ridiculous (thought it would likely work with space and jigs) is remove the door and put it on a drill press. Not many have a shop an/or press with capacity for this. Anyway, the solution that worked for me was to mount a 1.5" hole saw inside and protruding slightly from a 2.125" hole saw.

Once the hole was right sized the installation was effortless.

Operation:
Note that some of the electronic locks actually operate the bolt. This one only engages the bolt so that it can be turned in and out for about 5 seconds. I presume this will greatly lengthen the longevity of the battery.

Conclusion:
We no longer carry a door key. We have a garage door that can be opened with a code so we aren't worried about the battery going dead. The convenience of this lock is impressive. My wife loves it.
