Schlage FA358WKF620 Wakefield Exterior Handleset with Deadbolt, Antique Pewter

I have always purchased Schlage products. I redid my entire house with them 9 years ago when I moved in. My wife decided she wanted black hardware outside instead of the pewter color. I bought this lockset that was the outside components only to save money and to keep the inside parts to match everything else in the house. Came to find out that it was not compatible. My inside part for the deadbolt did not work with the newer mechanism plus the existing bolts for the deadbolt were too long. I called Schlage and they confirmed it. They were great and sent me shorter bolts no charge very fast. I never did quite get how to fix the deadbolt mechanism mismatch so I removed the locking mechanism from the old deadbolt and replaced it in the new one. There's only one screw holding it in. This also meant I didn't have to get the new one rekeyed. So everything worked out fine in the end. Bit of a hassle though. The only difference is the new deadbolt had a brass key hole on the outside and the old one is silver. Not a problem. So make sure you are buying something compatible by calling Schlage first or just get the entire lockset package.
