My daughter really loves Triceratops, so we had to get this one as well. We've had an early Christmas with one set of relatives, so she's already been playing with this 1:40 scale Triceratops & the 1:40 scale Stegosaurus.

Like the other dinos in this 1:40 scale range from Schleich, it comes with a little plastic man (unpainted) to show the relative size of the dino to a human being.

The Triceratops is a little dull in coloration compared to the Stegosaurus & even the 1:40 Allosaurus, not that anybody knows what colors these animals actually were in "real life". Length-wise, it's about the same size as the Stegosaurus, but you can tell the difference between the Stegosaurus' small head and Triceratops' enormous head. That physical difference, and the fact that these replicas are done in the same scale - it really gives you a way to picture the very real distinctions between these animals without having to take a trip to a natural history museum.

One more comment after a good amount of play: the paint isn't sealed in a durable manner, so with some dragging or rough treatment, the tips of the Triceratops' horns & beak-y mouth & tail have worn through to the lighter colored plastic. The plastic itself is durable, and with Daddy's hobby paints, it wasn't hard to make the Triceratops look like new again. However, it's probably not a good idea to give these dinos to a child who is in the "put everything into the mouth & chew on it" phase.

The triceratops is a great replica! Looks quite real. I highly reccommend it for any collector or the kid at heart who love dinosaurs. I really enjoy mine but believe this might not be the best to give to kids due to the wear and tear they can inflict on this beauty.

My three year old loves dinosaurs I looked everywhere for different dinosaurs and found some pretty cheap tacky ones. The Scheich dinosaurs are durable, realistic looking and super fun! I would recommend highly to any dino lovers out there.

Tyrannosaurus Rex liked nothing better at snack time than a plump Triceratops. But this dinosaur's wide head frill made it difficult for predators to get their teeth into his neck. And his three vicious horns also gave him a fighting chance.

All these details of anatomy are beautifully delineated in this charming Schleich replica of Triceratops. There's even a realistic red tongue inside his pincer-like mouth. He has a nice solid stance, too, and won't keep falling over like some wobbly toy dinosaurs.

It feels good to give a child such an exquisitely made plaything, rather the crude plastic stuff omnipresent in toy stores these days.

Schleich dinosaurs are particularly fun to collect. A child can arrange the figurines as if they're rambling over the earth together and engage them in various dramas. I bought several Schleich dinosaurs from the start, and plan to add to the collection on gift-giving occasions.
