This set of figures is just wonderful. My children love being able to pick up and touch the well known characters. My daughter loves holding the baby Jesus in her hand and placing him back in the manger, where he fits perfectly. My son thinks the wise men are cool. They are my favorites, too. Their robes and gifts are just beautiful. They each have distinct features, and seem almost real. Joseph is holding a lantern as if he is casting light over the baby. All the characters are leaning forward slightly to look at the baby. One of the Kings is kneeling to place his gift down. They all fit so well together in that scene. Even the shepherd boy is leaning a tad to the right so if you place him behind the adult shepherd, the boy seems to be peering over (or around) the other's shoulder. They are all sturdy on their feet (except the shepherd boy who has a slight tendency to topple). In my family, it is a big asset that my nativity is not breakable. Schleich does have a problem making their female characters attractive, but I think Mary is one of their more successful attempts. She is the only character which I am a little let down about, but then, making a replica of the Mother of God is a tall order! I would highly recommend this set. Now, if only they will make a stable to go with it...

After continuously reminding my youngest kids to leave the breakable nativity alone I decided it was time to get one for them to play with. After looking at several I went with the Schleich. I had seen the knights and animals made by Schleich and felt that the nativty would be exactly what we needed.

The kids were so excited when it arrived in the mail. Since then they have played with it often. The characters are well made and I know will hold up. The baby Jesus comes out of the manger. HE is very small though. We have had to look for Jesus a couple times when he has had help wondering from the rest of the set.

I do wish the set had come with some animals. But we went ahead and added out own. The baby animals seem to work best. The grown animals are a bit large compared to the pieces.

Over all I would recommend this set to anyone who is looking for a nice quality children's nativity set

We've bought Schleich knights/horses/dragons (for our two wonderfully wild boys who are very hard on their toys) and the quality and detail is outstanding. When I saw that Schleich also made a nativity set, I immediately ordered one. Even the box and the packaging are just extremely well made. I unhesitatingly give Schleich my highest recommendation!
