An incredible look at what has been regarded as the premier auto collection in the world. The Schlumpf Brothers - Hans & Fritz - were auto collecting fanatics with the fortune made from textiles to acquire and display a world class collection of the rarest, finest and most coveted of the world's most costly automobiles. The museum contained more than 400 automobiles (most restored to factory new condition) representing 94 different marques. There were well over 100 Bugatti automobiles alone including two of the most expensive and rarest of the breed - the Royale (one of which was previously Ettore Bugatti's personal vehicle). This book features many of the treasures of this unique collection. In many instances, the last remaining examples of some makes reside in this collection. When the brothers were driven out of France by their former textile workers, control of this once very exclusive private museum reverted to the state and quickly became the 3rd most popular tourist destination in France.
