Product Description

Size: 12 Inches

Made in the Black Forest region of Germany, this clock has an antique finish and features a delicately carved bird on top of the design. The white coloring of the dials and Roman numerals help to emphasize that, not only does this clock have an elegant design, but it also serves as a functional timepiece. Every detail on this clock is handcrafted by skilled artisans and made from real Black Forest linden wood. Decorative metal pinecones serve as counterweights to the strikes and cuckoo calls that come on both half and full hours.

Product Specifications:
The Schneider Cuckoo Clock Company

Anton Schneider began producing cuckoo clocks in 1848 in his farmhouse in Schonach. Now in its 6th generation of artisan cuckoo clock makers, Schneider continues to produce cuckoo clocks with the high-quality craftsmanship and intricate detailing that has become synonymous with the Black Forest region. Today, the Schneider Factory is one of the largest and most modern cuckoo clock factories in the Black Forest. Despite their size, Schneider continues to hand carve every cuckoo clock, utilizing traditional artisan methods and quality craftsmanship. Schneider's high standards for clock design extend to their workers as well. New woodcarvers go through extensive training, and many Schneider clock makers stay with the company for at least twenty years. Because of this, Schneider is one of the leading cuckoo clock makers in the entire world.

I purchased this clock as a gift for my wife on her birthday. It was an instant hit with her and the family. Although the clock is small, the leaves are carved and finished very nicely, which goes a long way toward mitigating the "cheap" look that many cuckoo clocks tend to have. This clock looks well made. There was some slight UPS shipping damage to the roof, but it was not visible when the clock is mounted up on the wall. I was a little amused by the accompanying instructions regarding such damage, instructing purchasers to either fix it themselves, or have it fixed, but don't return it. Mounting and start-up instructions are clear. Initially, for the first several hours, the clock cuckooed at 1-2 minutes before the minute hand reached the hour (12) and issued one chirp at 28 minutes after the hour instead of at 30 minutes past the hour. I loosened the minute hand and re-set it forward slightly, and the clock did its thing correctly on the hour, but it was still a minute or so early on the half hour. On day two, however, it began chiming correctly, i.e. precisely on the hour and the half hour. Per the instructions, I had to adjust the pendulum leaf downward about a quarter of an inch because it was running about 5 minutes fast per day. Otherwise, it has run nicely and I am pleased with the purchase. The clock does not feature an on/off switch for the "chimes", but I would probably never use it anyway. I was also concerned about it being a one-day clock which requires re-setting the weights daily. While I would probably buy an 8-day clock were I to make this purchase again, it is really quite simple to rewind daily as part one's daily routine, and my wife finds comfort in such routines.

The quality of craftsmanship and performance of this clock are truly outstanding. Despite the relatively small size of the clock itself, it will fill the room with soft ticking that creates such a cozy feeling, especially during the long winter nights. The cuckoo and chime sounds are not very loud, so it will be unlikely to distract you from work or even sleep. This clock is a real time machine! The best thing about this clock is that it is all real wood and metal and is fully mechanical, - no batteries are required whatsoever. The only minor drawback is that this model doesn't have a cuckoo/chime switch on/off lever, like other more expensive models do.

A wonderfully made true German clock from the Black Forest. I know they a guild of some sort over there, but Schneider is a great craftsman. It is a small clock, but fit our little 2 bedroom ranch wonderfully.

The bird will not come out, the door stays half open and it won't cuckoo. and one of the weights won't move down like it is suppose to.

This is a fantastic buy....One of the most reputable Black Forest Clock makers. My brother has had one for four years, and once it is dialed in...it is extremely accurate in keeping time. I bought one out of pure jealousy, set it up with no problems (easy instructions) and am now in dial in phase (adjusting the slider on the pendulum). Great little clock!

This clock is really sweet! I've always had a thing for cuckoo clocks, my parents had one when I was growing up. The clock is very well made with a nice finish on the wood. It's small, so it fits anywhere. The cuckoo bird is wooden and the clock makes a very nice cuckoo sound with gong. I've only had it for a few hours now, and so far I have not had to adjust the pendulum to regulate the time (which is no big deal) and the soft tick-tock is a soothing background noise for the house.
This my second mechanical cuckoo clock. I have to work on my other one that is very old and needs new bellows and other work(I build clocks as a hobby), and wanted to have a cuckoo clock on the wall while I work on the old one. This clock is built better than my old one. Excellent clock.

I love this little clock. Good German quality and keeps very good time. The only thing I care for is having to pull the chains everyday>
