Most quilting books in my collection have a few or even several patterns that I want to make. I just got this book and I love every single design in the book. The one thing I would add to the other reviews is that these are not quilts that can be made with one layer cake or one charm pack. All of them require at least 65 squares, so they will require two layer cakes (and will have squares left over). If you are looking for a book that has designs that can be made from one layer cake or charm pack, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for beautiful, creative patterns and don't mind using one and a half layer cakes -- leaving some layers for other projects -- then this is a wonderful book. I am looking forward to all the projects.

I picked up this book because of the title. (What the heck is a schnibble?) I am so glad that I did!

I began reading the introduction to Carrie Nelson's book, "Schnibbles Times Two; Quilts from 5" or 10" Squares" in an attempt to discover what a schnibble was. I ended up reading not only the introduction but all of the How To section even before I looked at the photos of the quilts. (As an experienced quilter I generally glance at the How To information to look for any new or unique techniques, but I never read it through completely, let alone before I look at the quilt photos.) Carrie Nelson has a wonderful writing voice. She is informative and funny. It was fun to read as an experienced quilter, and for a beginning quilter her writing style makes the information easy to understand and not in the least scary.

The basic premise of the quilts in this book is using pre-cut fabric packs to create beautiful quilts in two different sizes, a lap top version and a smaller version. Unlike many quilt patterns where you are given the directions for a quilt and then the cutting requirements for that quilt in a variety of sizes, Ms. Nelson has provided complete cutting, piecing and finishing directions for each quilt at each size. For a beginning quilter that could make all the difference between being successful and being extremely frustrated.

I have never been a big fan of charm packs, but as a scrap quilter these quilts are wonderful. I love the "X-Rated" cover quilt, "Little Red" and "McGuffey", as well as the stories that go along with them. For those rare times I do use charm packs I also appreciated that included in the How To section of the book was information on dealing with the pinked edges of the fabric in the pack.

This is a wonderful book, and well worth the cost. Weather you are using charm packs or gathering your own fabric, these quilts are captivating and fun!

This is a great book with lots of inspirational quilts and lovely commentary
I particularly like that you are given the two options (layer cake or charm packs) and that there are two pictures of quilts in the different sizes and with different colour ways
The commentary is funny and engaging
A good read and inspirational

This is a wonderful collection of quilts using layer cakes or charm squares. I can see myself making most of the quilts in both sizes. The small schnibbles will make great Christmas gifts.

If you're a quilter, you've probably seen the Schnibbles quilts everyone is making with 5" charm squares. This book includes patterns for 12 Schnibbles quilts, as well as additional instructions for making larger cuddle-size versions of the quilts with 10" squares, or "layer cakes." The designs are beautiful and easy to make. You'll also enjoy Carrie's interesting and funny writing style. The projects are photographed in beautiful garden settings. It's a very inspirational book and there's not a single project I don't want to make. You'll be so happy you bought this one!

Schnibbles Times Two is a terrific book for several reasons: 1) There are SO many patterns - what a great value! I will be using this book again and again. 2) Carrie Nelson, the author/designer, shows the reader various colorways and after reading this book several times, I cannot wait to try out the patterns with my stash. 3) The writing is easy, engaging and funny! The book is very readable and is a neat companion to her blog. 4) Carrie's methods for piecing are clever and I will use her techniques in all of my quilts. You can tell she likes to figure out how to make a pattern easier and she has some ingenious ideas. I also like the fact that you can make both a bigger and smaller quilt, using the new fabric cuts that are available 5) Excellent photography! I want every quilt in this book and they will make wonderful gifts. This will be one of my "go-to" quilting books and now I want to purchase Carrie's other books as well. Great job!

I'll just cut to the chase: This is a FANTASTIC book! It is filled to the brim with beautiful projects, great instructions, and Carrie's wonderful wit. Get a copy for yourself. And a few for gifts. And then a few more after that. You'll be glad you did.

I have made Schnibbles patterns before and, after doing some research, noticed that I could get several patterns in this book for the price of three or four little patterns so I took the plunge and ordered the book without knowing exactly which patterns were inside. I'm happy to report I was not disappointed at all. There are lots of great patterns and each has an option for a 5" charm or a 10" layer cake version. The quilts are all well photographed and the instructions are very detailed. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this book to any quilter.

Schnibbles Times Two: Quilts from 5" or 10" Squares displays twelve pairs of quilts using large square, presenting the idea of building a large quilt from 10" Layer Cake squares. Each quilt includes materials and a cutting list, assembly instructions, and keys to creating a 'schnibble' using leftover fabric bits. Quilting libraries will relish this survey!

I have quite a few quilt books that I use for inspiration but I already know that when I want a fast easy good looking quilt this is going to be my go to book. We need a second book of Schnibbles now!
