Product Description

Color: Blue

The Melodica is an outstanding instrument with a full two-octave range (25 piano keys) and tonal range from F thru F. It's beautiful rich tones and ease of playing make it popular with children and adults alike. Chords, single notes, sharps and flats can be played just like on a piano, within a smaller range. Many educators use it to teach the rudiments of chord formation, harmony, and theory. A sweet sounding instrument that is fun to play.

And, the reeds are not uniform, you may have to blow harder for some keys.

The 37 key Schoenhut is a passable musical instrument. The 25 key is not, though it's okay as a kids' toy. I bought this on sale for $15 to practice on -- practice my melodica tuning, that is. It serves that purpose well, and the tube and mouthpiece are worth what I paid. If you're serious about melodicas and think it would be instructive and entertaining (which it will be) to see what you can do with just 25 keys, I highly recommend Yamaha's dandy little 25 key pianica. It is more expensive but well worth what it costs.

It has a nice sound but the lowest keys require significant air to play. I have a Honer and so I have something to compare to and this melodica is harder to play- if you stay off the lowest 3-4 keys you're fine but it shouldn't behave like this. Other than that its a nice item.

Difficult to use for children. One has to blow very hard compared to Yamaha's and Hohner's. Comparative price shows it. And, the reeds are not uniform, you may have to blow harder for some keys. Not recommending.

Great instrument. Kids use it a lot and learn a lot from it. They even construct thier own songs. Makes them more aware of notes.

My daughter has an inkling for music and though she has not seen this yet, she will LOVE it. It seems sturdy and comes in a really nice case that the little ones will love. I bought one for my God daughter and she was delighted. I don't give it 5 stars because it is still a plastic toy.
