We bought this piano as a present for our daughter for Christmas - it was going to be the big Santa gift. The first one arrived incorrect, with parts missing, in the manufacturer's packaging (made in China). We contacted the seller - JouJou Baby - and they responded right away, and got a replacement shipped out in time to make our Christmas surprise. When we got the corrected one, it worked wonderfully.

My daughter, who just turned one right before Christmas, LOVES this piano! Anytime her daddy starts playing his, she will run over to hers and start playing. Her daddy even comes over to play hers sometimes, and as a pianist, he says it plays pretty well for the toy that it is. The sound is a little different, since the strings are elastic, and it's not perfectly in tune, but this is meant to be a toy, and she thoroughly enjoys it.

We are thrilled with it so far!

After reading the reviews for this item, I was nervous to purchase it, but it was exactly what I had hoped it would be. It's an absolutely beautiful TOY and my daughter loves to play it. It looks just like a baby grand piano and it's just her size. It was easy to put together; my only complaint is that one of the keys all the way to the right is stuck and you have to push it harder than all the rest. Does it sound like a toy piano? Yes. Is your child going to magically sound like Schroeder from the Peanuts? No. Most of the complaints in the reviews were that it sounded like a toy, but I'm not sure what people expect from a toy. As a musician myself, I would obviously prefer a richer tone more in tune, but for a 3 year old toy, it's absolutely perfect for playing and sitting at. It will make her more comfortable should she choose to play a real one in the future. So as a toy, 2 enthusiastic thumbs up.

I bought this piano as a Christmas gift for my 5 year old daughter who absolutely loves music. After my husband put it together on Christmas Eve, we had to try it out (of course). We began pressing keys and no noise came out. We figured there was something keeping it from playing (i.e. batteries or one of those removable pieces of plastic). We then figured out that you had to just bang on the keys. We had to hit the keys so hard to make any noise come out that I thought we would break it and/or wake the kids up. Half of the black keys make no noise at all and 4 of the white keys get stuck when you press them. I am so disappointed in this gift as it was intended to be her "big gift" from Santa. Now I have to send it back and my daughter will be heartbroken that she no longer has it. I am thankful that she really likes it but she can't play it and if I keep it, it will be a $100 piece of furniture that merely LOOKS like a toy piano. My money would have been much better spent on a regular keyboard.

I actually am very disappointed in the piano. Too small for 3-5. My twin granddaughters fall constantly off the seat. The sound coming from it is so piercing and tinny, was really surprised how horrible it sounds.

I was reluctant to buy this toy piano because the reviews were a bit poor. I went ahead and bought it anyway, since it appeared to be only a slightly modified design of the other Schoenhut Pianos that got great reviews.

This was one of the best gifts I ever gave my 2 year old daughter. She loves it, and so do I. Its a toy so it doesn't sound like a regular piano, but it actually creates a nice fullness to the toy notes that do come out. I even recognized its sound from some movie soundtracks that have used it. The volume of the notes is loud enough, but not too loud. The craftsmanship is really quality, and feels like it comes from a company that has made them since the 19th century (except for the plastic keys, but they're passable).

Its the only keyboard she's ever been interested in, and she sits down and plays it regularly. There is no limit to how many notes you can play at once like cheap electronic keyboards, and they have the sharp and flat notes working too, so I can play songs she recognizes.

Plus the company must of read the complaints about the holes for the music stand. They are now plugged up enough that things won't fall into the piano cavity anymore if you don't use the music stand. You can tell there was a lot of love put into this design.

This is a real quality toy!

My great grandson (just turned 3) fell in love with this little piano while having his picture taken at a studio. I bought him one for his 3rd b-day and he loves it. After reading many comments I wasn't sure what to expect, but we are all very happy with the quality and sound. It is, after all, a toy piano.

This is the cutest piano I've ever seen. Honestly I was not expecting this toy to be so well done. It looks perfect, it looks like a real Piano. It was also very easy to assemble and best of all, it is a safe toy it doesn't have any sharp edges or areas to get hurt. The little bench is just the right high for a toddler. This was a great investment for my one year old grand baby and she loves it.

My daughter(age 5) loves this toy. The color-note learning method worked perfectly with her. Now she plays songs that she self learnt from the method everyday. Great introduction to discover the fun of playing music. Only reason I did not give 5 star was the sound. It will sound like a toy piano, not like a real piano.

This little piano is the best. My son loves the piano. He plays it every day.
When arrive home from work he gives me a hug and kiss then plays the happy song for me.
Sound is good,is well built and great finish that is easy to clean.

Schoenhhut toy pianos USED TO BE wonderful musical instruments that were also hugely fun toys. They were well-made, in-tune, and produced a genuinely musical bell-like tone. They were a realistic first step for toddlers before a real piano.

My brand new Schoenhut was made in China. It is howlingly out of tune with itself -- meaning, melodies and chords that should sound pretty, very much do not. One of the attractions of the (real) piano as an instrument for little kids is not having intonation problems; if you've ever heard a beginner struggle to find the right notes on a violin, you know what I mean. Because the Schoenhut makes its sound through a little hammer hitting a little metal bar, it is basically impossible to fix the tuning, so your toddler will be STUCK playing out of tune with this instrument.

Many of the notes have a clunky, "dead" sound.

The keyboard feels reasonably nice under the fingers. However, the keys are NOT full-sized; they are noticeably narrower than regular piano keys (to save a bit on production costs?) This is a real problem if you're thinking of buying this as a step towards real piano playing for your child -- I could see it instilling bad muscle memory. Oddly, the instrument comes with a little strip of paper with note names to place above the keys, for use with a little tune book; the paper strip matches a REAL PIANO'S keyboard, not the Schoenhut's.

Some people buy pianos as pieces of furniture to look nice in their living rooms. This Schoenhut could serve the same decorative purpose in an upscale toddler's room. But I wouldn't buy it if you're looking for a fun toy, and absolutely not if you're looking for something to inspire a love of music in your toddler.
