Schoenhut's sturdy 37-key piano was designed with the Day Care industry in mind, but is perfect for the home too. Built of solid maple and one-half inch birch plywood, it is crafted entirely by hand and built to endure active play. With a keyboard almost half the size of that on an adult piano, the three-octave span allows plenty of room for playing with both hands. Chromatically tuned, the lovely chime-like notes are produced by little hammers striking precision-ground, German steel music rods (versus the conventional taut wires used in full-sized models). Schoenhut's Learning System, with its play-by-color teaching method, makes playing simple and fun. A removable color strip fits behind the keys to guide small fingers from chord to chord. The chart also works on adult keyboards, since keys on Schoenhut toy pianos are of corresponding width. This teaches children proper "finger stretch" from the very beginning. This was a gift for my son's first birthday. You should have seen his excitement when we gave it to him at his party. We have a full size piano that he's been reaching up to bang on, now he has one his size. It'll be fun to teach him how to play the piano on this toy size. Plus, the sound is quite different from a traditional piano, which gives some variety to my piano playing:) The mahogany color is really more red than mahogany, but that was fine with us and a support piece in the back came ungluded when we removed it from the box, but a little wood glue has fixed that. This is a fun product and great to have in the house.

My son is 16 months old and he loves his piano. He 's had it for several months and his interest in it has only increased. He plays it throughout the day, and he's getting quite good (for a toddler).

The construction is very good and the finish is beautiful. He bangs on it very hard, and it is standing up well. It has a charming toy piano sound that is loud enough, but not too loud to be annoying. The chimes are in tune and will stay that way permanently. There is no maintenance. The size is just right for a toddler, although my son doesn't use the seat and prefers to stand while playing.

This is our #1 baby purchase.

we got this piano because my kids loved my parents real one so much... its not quite the same but they like it anyways! its a little small, i was hoping for a bit larger, but my 3 and 1/2 year old can still sit and play. hopefully he doesnt out grow being able to sit at it for a while, especially since he can actually learn to play on this thing. which is a big plus, i think music is important, i am not big into playing anything myself, but exposure for the kids is nice, and they love the piano. my 1 and 1/2 year old loves it too, he likes to hear himself "play". the color is very red, i wish i had gotten black or something, but that is minor. it sounds a little cheasier than i thought it would for the price, but hey a piano you can ship and not have to tune, what did i expect right! its a great toy, my kids are loving it.
