You like chocolate? Yes? This will absolutely blow your socks off. Deep, rich, and yes oh yes so chocolate-y. This is intense chocolate flavor, with cocoa overtones- somwhere between sweet and bittersweet, and very smooth on the palate. I bought this after seeing it revealed on the Food Channel, and trust me you need to try it also. OMG.

I like my hot chocolate to be rich, smooth, loaded with so much chocolate that each sip makes me want to smack my lips to taste each drop. I also use whole milk for my hot chocolate because the fat makes it that much richer. Well, this chocolate mix was disappointing to me. I followed the instructions carefully and when my hot chocolate was ready, the whole experience was not what I had expected. The taste was just okay. It was no more rich or chocolate-y as some of the supermarket brands.

Currently, my favorite hot chocolate mix is Organic Sweet Moose Cocoa. In contrast to the Schokinag brand, this one is so rich the chocolate coats the spoon, very smooth and oh so chocolate-y.

A few winters back, I bought this at my local grocery store one day after running out of Swiss Miss. At first, I found this to be super indulgent and made a cup every few days after work. After 2-3 weeks, its novelty wore off and I found the repeated microwaving/stirring process to be annoying. Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that I used 2% milk, but I could never fully dissolve all of the chocolate into the milk evenly. I usually ended up with a thicker-n-richer-than-hot-cocoa drink that had little chocolate "sand" swirling around.

This past December, I went to Italy and got a "real" 6-oz cup of drinking chocolate. Unfortunately, after that, I haven't touched this at all because it doesn't even come close...

this cocoa is SO GOOD! this is now our favorite, this is the "good" chocolate, i'll only share w/ppl i know will appreciate it!!

Hands down the best hot chocolate I've ever had (the first time was several years ago at my sister's house). It is rich and thick and intensely chocolatey! You put some in a mug, microwave it briefly (to melt the little chocolate morsels--this is not the run-of-the-mill cocoa powder mix you find at the grocery store) and then add milk and continue heating it. It is pricey, but makes a perfectly indulgent gift for yourself or some other lucky person!

I, too, saw this on FoodTv and really wanted to try it. If I'd only had Swiss Miss or Carnation hot chocolate mix before I would have been blown away but even though it's very good, it's really overpriced. You would achieve the same result by grating good quality chocolate and melting it with milk. For a more commercially available and much less expensive substitute, try Ghirardelli hot cocoa mixes.

Uh, drinking chocolate? Like, hot chocolate but for $12? Maybe in France that's acceptable, but I really expected to have the top of my head fly off when I drank some of this. Swiss Miss made with milk is comparable and easier. Unless, of course, you like the taste or pretense. Then have at it.
