Review
Reg Gadney has over the years built up an extensive backlist of 11 titles and a loyal readership. He is a reliable thriller writer in the sense that his books are all compelling page-turners, the basic requirement of the genre. This is important because it means he never disappoints his readers, and disappointment is definitely not on the cards in this new Alan Rosslyn tale. A Hong Kong police inspector, Winston Kim, is killed when he attempts to thwart a maritime terrorist attack. The killer is Klaas-Pieter Terajima, 'The Scholar of Extortion', employed by the Zhentung brothers to protect their piracy operation in the South China Seas. Rosslyn promises to care for Kim's stepdaughter, Mei, who, it turns out, is dangerously close to The Scholar of Extortion.
