1.0 out of 5 stars OBSCELETE!!! Logos 4 Scholar's Library NOW AVAILABLE!
First of all, I'm trying to find Bible study software currently. All I've found previously from various companies is archaic and made me just stick with the ample hard copy reference library I already have. But the Logos demos (that's right...I'm not an owner...yet) look absolutely amazing! So why the bad marks from someone who owns neither? The answer is because you can...

(REAL NAME)
I have had this software package for a month now. Outstanding and Excellent! It comes with a Morris Proctor training CD. The Scholar's package includes 330 resources. Logos tech support is both quick and competent. Why did I need tech support? The training CD initial window was a *.hta file type which needs to be set to a Microsoft HTML File, not a Herrera Thumbnail Archive. You probably won't have this problem. Also, the musical hymns were muted in my audio settings. YES, there are 366 hymns in this set.
INSTALLATION: No problem. First you install the libronix software, then you read (or scan) the library disks. You do not have to copy the resources to your hard drive, but this whole set only takes 2.16 GB of disk space.
EASY TO USE: The Logos application provides Passage, Word, or Topic searches. Type in your request, click go and the power of libronix technology will amaze you. The resources are returned in short order and all you have to is click the item on the list. It's as easy as clicking a link on a web page.
INCLUDES: You can have a parallel Bible defined with the versions you want. You can graphically compare different versions. The Logos Deluxe Map Set is included. The Biblical People show a graphical relationship (parents/children).
OTHER FEATURES: There's a Prayer Log. It's good, but not great. The Bible Reading Plan is Excellent. You can create a customized Bible Reading plan in about 2 minutes! Select the starting book and ending book, the days of the week, the starting date and ending date, and create. You get a reading plan that stays on the program page, but you can also print out a list format or calendar format of your Bible Reading plan. And of course you can print one out for a friend just as easy.
IT'S BASIC AND ADVANCED: There are Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic resources in the scholar's library. Now I am not a divinity student, I am a lay person. I do not speak, Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic. But yet I can use this resource. You can research the original text of a word, type in english, the program gives Strong's reference numbers and graphically displays where else the same orginial word his in the Bible. There is an exegetical guide for Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic as well.
A NATURAL FOR RESEARCH: Copy from your resources, paste into Word and the FOOTNOTE IS AUTOMATICALLY CREATED FOR YOU!
SAVES YOU TIME IN PREPARING STUDY MATERIALS: You can create handout materials in about 20 minutes for a passage of scripture or a topic from a variety of resources.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANY CHURCH LEADER WHO PREPARES MATERIALS.

This package is not inexpensive, but it is a BUG FREE Quality Program. What you are really buying is a digital library. There are other packages available from Logos, but the Scholar's package includes the Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic resources.

FREE TRAINING VIDEOS AVAILABLE: IF you go to the logos web site, you can view training videos on the different features of the program. It's a comprehensive program, but it is easy to use right out of the box.

BIBLICAL RESEARCH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME: I have looked at other Biblical Software, but Logos has features the others do not.

I highly recommend this Software!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Digital Christian Library System!, December 25, 2006
By
I have been using Logos products for over ten years, expanding and upgrading as funds permitted. As a full-time Baptist pastor, my library is a very personal thing to me -- my books are the "tools of my trade." Libronix is MUCH more than just Bible software, although in my opinion it is the absolute best biblical software available. Libronix is a complete digital library system, allowing one to access from a hard drive what was previously accessed from a pastoral book shelf or a seminary library.

Over the past ten years, I've been transitioning to a digital pastoral library, and Libronix is my format of choice. I've considered other popular software programs, but nothing comes close to Libronix. It has unsurpassed Biblical tools, PLUS a vast amount of reference titles and contemporary authors.

One great thing about Libronix is the amount of pricing options available to get started. Although I own the Scholar's Library Gold edition (widest selection of titles in one package), a person can start with a less expensive package, such as the Christian Home Library. Don't want the Hebrew and Greek selections? You don't have to buy them. Want more contemporary authors and less classical works? Craft the system to your choice, buying only the titles you truly need.

Another outstanding characteristic of Libronix is their customer service. I have NEVER in ten years had any problems whatsoever. There is also a newsgroup of users available to discuss various issues from beginning to advanced.

If you're wanting to go digital in your Bible study and/or your Christian library, Libronix provides the best way to get there. I recommend this program highly. I have used various editions of it for years, and am sure you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Am Having Too Much Fun, August 19, 2006
I received the software on time. Installation was a breeze. Everything installed as it should. I also bought A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature Third Edition (BDAG) directly from Logos. It works. The application has no clunkiness in the interface and the search times are excellent considering the volume of information that is scanned.

While a multimedia tutorial is included, the package ships with no written, comprehensive user guide or reference guide. This bugs me. So far I have been able to find what I need in the help.

It is a joy to explore Bible passages and topics with this product. I would wish this joy on you.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have to see it to believe it!, June 21, 2007
By
Dennis S. Anderson "Andy Anderson" (Lynden, Washington United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I purchased the Scholar's Library 2 years ago, and loved it so much that I quickly started to add more books to my digital library through Logos Bible Software. The Scholar's Library contains 330 resources, which is a great package for the serious bible student. There are 7 different packages to start with, ranging from 68 - Christian Home Library to 700 resources - Scholar's Library Gold. The resources in the Scholar's would cost you approximately $6,100.00 in print, but in the digital format only $472.46 from amazon. That is less than $1.50 per book - an incredible investment for your Christian Theological Library. The other advantage of the digital library is that it does not take up shelf space, plus it can be portable, as you can place it on your laptop, and your desktop.

This is the most powerful, and easiest to use software available today. After installation, you open the program and it displays a home page, providing 3 easy ways to search your library of books. 1. By Study Passage 2. By Study Word, 3. or Study Topic - enter content and click go, it's that simple. The program searches 1. Commentaries 2. Cross References 3. Biblical People 4. Parallel Passages 5. Compares Versions 6 Shows Sermons 7. Displays Maps 8 Suggests Music 9 Provides Topics within the passage, and 10. Illustrations. - All that by entering a passage and clicking GO! You just open each resource by clicking on the link and it opens your book to the right page. It is like having a research assistant opening up all of your books to the right page that deals with the passage, word, or topic! It is an incredible time saver. It also provides an incredible amount of information to draw from.
For deeper study, you would click on the Exegetical Guide, and it parses your passage, helping a person who does not know greek or hebrew get into the meaning of the words and passage. The program is easy to use for the english only students, and can be used extensively by the Hebrew or Greek Scholar. It is incredibly flexible. You will not be able to outgrow this program. Logos Bible Software has the largest amount of Christian Theological works available in their Libronix (from Library and Electronics)digital books. There are over 7,000 books that are available to add to your library.

On a personal note, Logos features a Bible Reading Plan that I customized, a Daily Devotion that you can select by book, and a prayer List for you to enter the requests, and update the results. At the conclusion of a year you and your family can review the prayers and share the results of how God worked in your lives. - Incredibly Comprehensive, yet at the same time so easy. So easy that it makes bible study fun!

You will not be dissappointed, but be absolutely thrilled. Buy it today, do not wait to make the investment in that which is eternal. The Word of God, and the tools to study it.

1.0 out of 5 stars OBSCELETE!!! Logos 4 Scholar's Library NOW AVAILABLE!, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Scholar's Library CD-ROM - Logos Bible Software 3 (CD-ROM)
First of all, I'm trying to find Bible study software currently. All I've found previously from various companies is archaic and made me just stick with the ample hard copy reference library I already have. But the Logos demos (that's right...I'm not an owner...yet) look absolutely amazing! So why the bad marks from someone who owns neither? The answer is because you can purchase the updated version of the Scholar's Silver (the Plus version) Library from the Logos company itself FOR THE SAME PRICE. Logos 4 Scholar's Silver library has approximately reference 770 books in it. I'm not sure what the Logos Scholar's version 3 has, but you can contact the seller for that info. Plus, this past Christmas season, Logos dropped 20% for the season. I missed the boat because I just started looking and couldn't round up the funds for it. But, who knows? They might drop the price again this coming year. I'm not sure if I can wait, but maybe you can. Regardless, If you're going to drop $1K, it might as well be on the updated version from the company itself. Sorry seller! You might want to drop the price and recup some of your loss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product with much useful functionality, February 21, 2009
By
Doug (New Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
If you are looking for an electronic Bible, this one may very well surpass your expectations/needs. It has many useful functions within it, many of which I have yet to explore, and too many to relate here in full.

Here is a taste of its functionality from my experiences ...

- Can have multiple windows (of varying sizes) open from various resources... For example: I often have the left half of my screen contain a window with Bible text, preferably NASB (though with 2 clicks of the mouse or arrow key I can change the Bible version), and the right half of my screen contain other resources on top of each other (I have now approx. 14 open windows now on the right half) ... maybe Pilgrim's Progress, maybe a few commentaries, maybe a book on evangelism (there are many interesting/useful references and books, both text and pictures/images within, by the way).

- The Lord Jesus Christ's words can be worthily distinguished in red (or other colors) in Bible text.

- Can highlight (or underline, or double-underline, etc.) text/verses in yellow color (or blue, or green, etc.) and apply notes (or notes) to them, and categorize/group those notes (the Note functionality is good, but I can think of some improvements ... like having sub-categories as in a computer's file directory).

- Has bookmark functionality too, though only 9 bookmarks max allowed.

- Can turn on and off Strong's Numbering in the Bible text by clicking a button in the toolbar (that I created ... I think that toolbar buttons can be custom created for almost every function).

- Can click the Strong's Numbers in the Bible text to see words' Greek or Hebrew definitions.

- Can 'link' my Bible text with another Bible version or even a commentary and have the two scroll together synced by verse.

- Can double-click on any word in a resource and have a 'Merriam-Webster's 10th Collegiate Dictionary' appear with the word's definition.

- Can click the back/forward buttons to return to previous places in a resource's text.

- One improvement that can be made to the software is to allow users to choose whether to read Bible text in 'paragraph' or 'individual verse' format. Currently, different versions of the Bible are set one with one format or another. I'd like to be able to choose.

- Has useful word search functionality allowing for logical search strings like 'Word and (Truth or Food)' in order to find matching text across all/some/one resource(s).

- Can right click on a Bible verse and have the software return 'every' reference/book in the software mentioning it.

- Can read a reference like Pilgrim's Progress, hover my mouse pointer over a Bible verse (or range of verses) mentioned in the text, and see a temporary popup window containing the Bible verse's text (that's a big one to me when reading the non-Bible resources). Can also click on those verses to go directly to the Bible text in your default Bible version.

- Apparently, the software also allows users to create 'Verb River' analyses of Bible text, though I haven't floated down that one, or others, yet.

Hope that gives you a sense for this product's functionality and worth. It really surpassed my expectations and I enjoy learning God Almighty's Word even more now, something that is priceless.

Isaiah 40:8 'The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Logos Bible Software is Indispensable, November 30, 2007
By
There are lots of Bible Software systems on the market and choosing one is not easy. I am so glad that I chose the Logos system. It amount of time it saves me on a regular basis is lifesaving.
I am a seminary student who will be going into the Army Chaplaincy. As a seminary student, this is such a tremendous help with original language work. Word studies and parsing is just a mouse click away. This is such a great help. As a future chaplain who is facing a likely deployment to Iraq I know that I can't bring many books with me. I can however, bring logos. Therefore, I am building up my library electronically so I can always take it with me wherever the ministry takes me.
The most amazing this about this software is its ability to integrate your library into your work. When I look up a passage (say John 4) it gives me my preferred bible (ESV) and then it runs through my library to find where John 4 is referenced in all my electronic books. I click on a commentary (like the Word Biblical Commentary), and it takes me right to the section on John 4. With one click I can see every book in my library that has my passage referenced. What a huge time saver.
This product is truly great and not once have I ever regretted my investment. I am learning new feature and how to do new things on this software every time I use it. They have thought of everything.
Thanks logos for a great product.

I recently ordered the Logos Scholar's Library software. I must say this is a totally awesome product!!! I have just begun to explore it, but there is so much good stuff (more than 300 titles/books) that it will take years to exhaust. I highly recommend this!!! And Amazon.com was by far the best way to get this product. As always, Amazon was professional, efficient and excellent!!!
