Should be called Find the Errors,
This review is from: Scholastic Book of Lists (Paperback)
It seems that this book was designed to misinform its reader on a broad spectrum of subjects. Don't let your children read this book! Worse than being uninformed, if they rely on this book, they will fill their heads with false information.Scholastic publications evidently doesn't bother to do the most rudimentary fact-checking before putting its products on the market. It's shocking that they hire the same authors for edition after edition of this work. Don't trust Scholastic!

Page 172 is titled "Homonyms." It gives a definition that they are "words that sounds the same but have different meanings," and gives examples such as bear and bare. This is the definition and examples of homophones, not homonyms. Homonyms are words that are spelled the same but have different meanings.

Fun and Educational!,
This review is from: Scholastic Book of Lists (Paperback)
Believe it or not, this was the first time I had the privilage of reading one of the books that lists different trivia and I had a ball. Inside the pages of this book you find out answers to some many unthought of questions. For example: What do they put on pizza in Japan? What do you use to have good luck? And what brings bad luck? And how ab out some Weird Laws? Now that is just naming a few of the different topics covered in this book. Believe me, there are many.We read it during Tropical Storm Fay when the family was sitting around the living room. It really helped distract us all from the howling winds and driving rain outside and it was a lot of fun. We would ask each other questions and see who, if anyone, knew the answers. This book is both entertaining and educational. Great fun! Great read.
