It all starts out familiarly enough. Two blond twins, one messy (Lottie), the other neat and organized (Mia), head off on the first day of school. They meet a new boy, Toby, and a school classmate, Anna, who shows the trio how she can wiggle her loose tooth. By the afternoon, Anna’s lost her tooth—no, really lost it—and it’s up to the twins to find it. And that’s where a changeup comes in. After a chant, the girls become Super Twins, who, with the help of a tiny unicorn, use their magical powers to help locate the tooth. The shift to fantasy seems abrupt, but kids may enjoy the googly-eyed girls, who find twinship has supernatural advantages beyond simply reading each other’s thoughts. Illustrated with simple cartoon-style illustrations, this fun fare is the first in a series. Grades K-2. --Ilene Cooper
